Oh dear. Here is what he said, as quoted by yourself-“Some of us may not relaize that there are various views of same sex marriage within Christianity.” Meaning, some people in the thread may not know that there are different views on same sex marriage in Christianity, meaning, some churches, like the Episcopal Church, support it, others, like the Catholic Church, do not. It says nothing about whether he supports same-sex marriage or not. The “us” in this case says nothing about him supporting SSM (it is used in a generic sense, like “some of us may not realize that the sky is blue”, which does not mean that he himself doesn’t realize that), nor does the sentence itself refer to those that support SSM, as it only refers to a variety of views, with no comment on whether any of those views are valid or held by the poster.
So you are saying ‘us’ was used as a royal ‘we.’
Can we just disagree agreeably on the issue of same sex marriage John? I’m sure there are many Catholics who struggle with the entire issue of same sex marriage in our country. Same sex marriage is silent in the Scriptures. When you study the six verses in Scriptures that have been traditionally used to condemn all homosexual relationships, it’s not there. Scripture never condemns a loving commited same sex orientation marriage or relationship. Even in the account of Sodom and Gomorrah, the sin of homosexuality is never mentioned when Scripture later defines the actual sins of Sodom.

Since we are both males John, in a way, we both are in a same sex marriage with Christ since He is our bridegroom, and the church consisting of both male and female is the bride.

Thank you. That is my intention.

This thread is about education and awareness. I have not expressed my personal opinion on the issue of same sex marriage, nor do I plan to on here. Please retract your post about stating what my position is on the issue.

In fairness… I do believe your posts at the beginning were…a bit confusing. I even answered you in response to SSM. Reading through all your posts, however, I did see on several of them that you kept coming back to polygamy.

My question…your personal opinion aside, what does scripture say about same sex relationship or marraige? This is a fact based question and not one of opinion. The question is relevant as the same answer underlies the answer, in part, to why polygamy is also immoral.

Pork.

Saying that “there are various views of same sex marriage within Christianity” implies that one agrees with those views being within the scope of Christianity.

If you don’t agree with same-sex marriage within a Christian context, you might speak more plainly next time.
Sorry, this is a very heated and divisive topic among people from all circles. I’m glad I had a chance to clarify what I meant by the opening post. I did not want to cloud the issue by stating my personal opinion on this explosive issue. Bottom, line… same sex marriages are legal in several of our states in America. It is a very relevant topic in religious and non-religious circles.

I am just trying to make Catholics and Protestants aware that saying traditional marriage is between a man and a woman is not true according to Scripture relvelation. The marriages throughout Scripture included incest and polygamy as the norm. The issue of same sex marriage is not directly addressed in Scripture.
