No, because the KKK is a terrorist organization. It has a record of bigotry, terrorism, and violence towards people that aren’t white.

I was also asked if I would support rape, if you can believe that.

I do not stand for discrimination, so I am in disagreement with the majority of posts on this thread.

Your friend’s brother isn’t asking him to attend a gay orgy. He’s asking him to attend a ceremony where he will pledge his love and life long commitment to his partner.

Are you seriously comparing that to rape, bigotry, and violence?
Well, since you ran from my last post and the questions I asked, I’ll piggyback on this response.

Do you consider the homosexual act evil?

**What is your religious affiliation? I ask because you wittheld it from your profile. **That always send up a red flag because it’s a tactic of the trollers on this forum.

So the truth of the matter is that you approve of homosexual marriages. Correct? So it Is not that you don’t want us to not be judgmental it’s just that you don’t want people to be judgemental about sinful actions that you personally do not consider to be sins. Correct?

He was Catholc, he is now Baptist, so the problems are, I believe, similar. What I want to know is, is it okay to go to a protestant wedding?
Under normal circumstances it is fine to go to a protestant wedding bu that might not be the case here. Unless he has left the church by a formal act he is still Catholic and bound by the church laws on marriage. Therefore this marriage will be invalid in the eyes of the church.
So again it depends upon if you think your attending will help you influence him to come back to practicing in the church and validating his marriage.

I’m not so sure about that. For a Catholic to attend would at least be a sin of Scandal. Correct me if I am wrong.

That link contains many types of evil, and many definitions. It talks about physical evil, moral evil, and metaphysical evil. It talks about the nature of evil and three different methods to determine it.

So unless you are more specific, I can’t answer really answer your question. This may be a bit of derail, so maybe you should start a new thread for it?

I am an ex-catholic. Whether I consider homosexual acts evil or not is completely irrelevant to this thread. The OP is asking about attending a marriage.

I see your point, but you not correct.

If it is a function promoting violence and harm, such as the KKK, then it would be wrong to attend.

If I had an Indian friend that was getting married, in a traditional Indian wedding, then I would have no problem attending. He’s breaking the first commandment, but there is no violence or harm being done by attending his wedding. I’m not worshiping his God(s).

Excuse me?
Answer seems preety obvious. Since youn told us you wouldnt attend a KKK rally because they areevil BUT told us we should attend a so called homosexual “wedding” it is apparent you think homosexual marriages are fine. What i find interesting is your reluctance to admit it.

The OP asked about attending a marriage. How is this in any way related to a homosexual act? Do you think they’re going to have gay sex on the alter?

I didn’t say YOU should attend. If you don’t feel comfortable then I would recommend that you don’t attend.

I don’t think the OP should stop his friend from attending his brothers wedding.

I thought I made it clear that I don’t think attending a homosexual marriage would be wrong, and I previously compared it to attending an Indian wedding.

So you equate being indian with homosexual behavior? interesting.

This has EVERYTHING to do with this thread. It is the crux of the matter.

Being homosexual is not a sin - just as having a sexual addiction is not a sin.
It is when we act upon these impulses that sin presents itself.

A “marriage” between 2 homosexuals is an unholy union because marriage includes the consummation. Therein lies the sin. Marriage is an institution created by God between a man and a woman.

Anything else is an abomination to God.

Which is why homosexual acts are irrelevant to this thread. There are no sexual acts (homosexual or otherwise) during a same-sex marriage.

I agree with you that this is relevant, but I don’t agree with your extremist view. There is no harm or violence coming upon anyone during a same sex marriage. There is nowhere in the bible that says a same sex marriage is a sin.

Again, I’m making a distinction between a marriage and a sexual act.

You’re just taking a position.
Of course there are no homosexual acts during the ceremony just as there are no heterosexual acts during a real marriage.

There is no actual stealing in the planning of a robbery and no lives are lost during the planning of a murder. This doesn’t nullify the sinfulness of it, though.

Genesis 2:24 explicitly states that marriage is between a man and a woman. There are no exeptions.

**Romans 1:18-32 explains in detail that the homosexual act is wicked, perverse, unnatural and evil. **

This is why endorsement of homosexual marriage is in itself sinful.

The bible doesn’t condemn homosexual marriage because it does not exist. Marriage = a woman + a man. A marriage needs to be consummated in order for it to be valid. Two men can not consummate their marriage because their 2 parts are not meant to go together. Same way that two women can not consummate it. Their parts are incompatible for consummation. The friend would be attending a lie because their is no such thing as “gay marriage”

Good Lord - how much further can someone get from God than by participating in homosexual marriage? Sodomy is one of the sins that cry out for the vengeance of heaven. It’s violence AGAINST God.
I’m unfamiliar with the idea of mutually voluntary sodomy being violence against God, but I agree that you can’t get much further from God. Theologically. But that’s not the only consideration; my point, quite simply, was that to absolutely refuse to go would even further solidify his choice to pursue immorality. It would entirely close off any idea of a dialog, and thus any idea of a conversion. I’m not sure how much of a Good Work you’re doing if you’re doing it in a way that hardens someone’s heart even further.
