Bishop Gomez of Denver has been named the new Archbishop of San Antonio! It would not be at all surprising if he were to be Cardinal Gomez in a very few years.
Yes, it’s official. It was announced this morning in Rome along with the other US changes. Is this official? I’ve heard these rumours for a while now. I’ll meet him in a few weeks for the first time. Busy fellow! Denver will miss him if he goes.

The changes to Galveston-Houston (became an archdiocese) can be found on this thread.David, do you know where to get the info on all the US changes?
I live in Austin, so this change afftecs me little (now belonging to the archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, instead of the much closer San Antonio).I’ve been looking into moving to San Antonio…is this a good thing, or a bad thing for a conservative orthodox Catholic?
I’m just trying to get a feel for the Catholic community in San Antonio…
