Sanctifying Grace and Gifts of the Spirit: the same?

I have been confused by this question for a long time.

When the sanctifying grace of the person grows or diminishes, does this mean that the Gifts of the Holy Spirit are also increased or diminished?

Does the Sanctifying Grace include anything else besides the Gifts of the Spirit? :confused:
 
There is too much rich theology about the reality of one being in the state of grace to give a complete picture…but let me note that via faith and baptism one a new creation…is in Christ…is a son in the Son… the Holy Spirit is dwelling within them as a temple…indeed the Holy Trinity…they can now walk in love…walk by the Spirit…they receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit (which are later increased in Confirmation)…they have the infused theological virtues of Faith, Hope and Charity, (they can be said to have infused cardinal virtues as well but the are to grow in the acquired cardinal virtue…such are related), they can have various charisms, they are saints (not the canonized sense but a real sense -for they are holy)…etc they are in “true life”!

From what I understand the Gifts increase with the increase of Sanctifying Grace.

Not sure about your second question. Charity probably increases which may somehow effect the other virtues. The Beatitudes may come into play. Im just not sure how all this works.

Thx, but that’s kind of complicated. I would like a simple answer about how the two interrelate.

One must receive justification (which yes means too that one is in a State of Grace) via faith and baptism.

One receives at the same time the seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit.

One receives them again in a fuller stronger way when receives the Sacrament of Confirmation.
 
As we trade in the gifts with fellow Christians we’ll bear fruit, and then we’ll have a share in others’ crowns and they a share in ours.
