I don’t understand why he was ever allowed to roam free. He is a suicide risk, and a risk to children. It is really insane that he was ever not jailed before this point.

There is the problem with Constitutional rights again. He has not yet been found guilty and is presumed innocent. He has the legal right to reasonable bail. He also has enough publicity and people following him that he is not an imminent danger to anyone else for a while.I don’t understand why he was ever allowed to roam free. This is not even close to the most extreme case I can think of. The first Allen County, Indiana deputy sherriff to be murdered in the line of duty was killed by a man out on bail awaiting sentencing for felony battery of a police officer, less than a mile from my home. The perp was interrupted during a residential burglary and used a weapon stolen from his parents home. Deputy Eryk Todd Heck was married with an 11 month old daughter. A second deputy was wounded and the perp also died at the scene.

I believe that at the time Mr. Sandusky was first granted bail over a month ago,
no alleged victims had yet come forward and we only had the accusation made by
that one man/co-worker to go by. That might be why he made bail so quickly back then.
By the way, these “victims” coming forward now could possibly be lying.
That is the problem with NOTORIOUS accusations against FAMOUS people,
and Mr. Sandusky is famous. If someone makes an accusation against him,
and the accusation gains NOTORIETY, as this accusation quickly did,
then the cabal of crackpots that are always waiting for their 15 minutes of fame,
they start coming out of the woodwork.
I do not say that the alleged victims ARE lying, merely that they COULD BE.
Good Lord, look at Herman Cain. Now, Mr. Cain, while bright and successful,
is not one of my favorite political candidates, but he IS famous, and after the media issued the claim that he sexually harassed a woman back in the 80s, now you have practically every crank (female cranks in this instance) from Maine to Alaska coming forward claiming that the man had sex with all of them, too. Now, in his case as well, some of the claims may possibly be true. But I find it very difficult to believe that they ALL are.
The man would have been having to “do it” with **20 women a day **for these claims all to be true.
**NO MAN has THAT kind of sexual stamina **(even if he claims that he DOES).
People with a celebrity status are, like it or not, targets of oddballs and opportunists who want their names in the paper AND to be able to make a quick pot of money, too, off the ruining of a famous person’s reputation.
And that woman who had the affair with Cain, allegedly, and is now expressing her
“sincere apologies” to his wife, WHY THE HECK did she even come forward in the first place? Simple: PURE DESIRE FOR PUBLICITY. After all, by her own claim, this was an affair, a mutual-consent Adultery, not a sexual harassment, so WHY would she come forward at all? Again: pure desire to become KNOWN. That can only be the only reason, cuz she had two whole DECADES to expose Mr. Cain, a longtime powerful, well known CEO (Godfather’s Pizza chain) as an adulterer. Instead, she comes forward NOW, when he is running as a political candidate against the democrats.
I’m sorry, but as far as motivations for her coming forward go,
I REALLY smell a RAT, a rat possibly induced to come forward by a political party.
Had she not come forward like this, she wouldn’t HAVE to express her “deep sorrow and regrets” to Mrs. Cain. I’m sorry, but the deep sorrow and regret claim doesn’t ring
true to me. It doesn’t sound sincere at all. It sounds like she is throwing an obligatory bone (for the appearance of decency) to Mrs. Cain, who probably never would have learned of the alleged adultery had this woman not come forward to get her picture in the paper and on the evening news. It’s fun to have 15 minutes of fame, even if for doing something rather dastardly, I guess.
SO, I am very cynical about all these accusations against famous folk these day,

I am suspending personally any personal belief in the claims made against Mr. Sandusky by anyone. For Mr. Sandusky’s sake, I hope the claims are false and he is vindicated.
BUT, for the alleged VICTIMS’s sake, the ones now claiming to have been raped by him,
the claims HAD BETTER be true, because to destroy another human being with THAT KIND (especially) OF FALSE ACCUSATION, if they ARE false, will get the accusers into indescribably “hot water” with God Almighty, and He just MIGHT NOT grant them the grace to repent, either. Remember, coming to repentance is a result of a GRACE given to a soul by God, and God doesn’t HAVE to give that grace to anyone. And if you deliberately destroy a morally-upright person for fame or money’s sake, and ruin his and his family’s life, God MIGHT give you the grace to repent…but then again,
He just might NOT.

The grand jury whose findings resulted in Sandusky’s first arrest had heard testimony from eight victims, if I recall correctly. The first grand jury report is available on-line, if you have a strong stomach.
There has been a lot of speculation that the bail at Sandusky’s first arrest was set so low ($100,000 that he didn’t have to post) because the judge was someone who had been involved as a volunteer with the charity Sandusky founded. Personally, I tend to think the first judge just made a poor decision.
In any event, the case has been assigned to a different judge. He set the bail much higher ($250,000) and required that Sandusky actually provide security for it. Sandusky spent one night in jail because he had trouble getting enough assets together. The following morning, he and his wife gave a bond against their house, and he also provided the court with a $50,000 cashier’s check.

I’m curious because I want to know what EVIDENCE, other than a verbal claim,
that these grand jurors actually HAVE.
Do they have photos, taken at the time of, [edited by moderator] or other source of his DNA on it?
Do any of the victims identify certain (again hypothetical) birthmarks, for example,
on Sandusky’s privates that ONLY someone who has been intimate with him would have been able to see and know about??
I’m just wondering WHAT, exactly, constitutes “evidence” when all you are dealing with is verbal accusations.
Heck, I could come forward and (falsely) claim that 25 years ago he
repeatedly sodomized ME, and make up a very convincing story,
and be lying through my teeth about it. And the press would eat it up,
I’d be in the limelight, get exclusive, nice $$$ book-and-movie rights offers made to me,
etc, etc, etc. Quite an inducement to fabricate a horrible story if one has few scruples.
Again, I don’t know that the men (now long-adult men) are lying. I’m just becoming very skeptical about all these accusations these days.

too touchy for the thread. I tried to use as “medicinal, sterile” language as possible,
but sometimes even that can still be too controversial.
Did you read the articles about Johnny Gosch and what happened to him (and others) at the hands of, frankly, elite members of our society?
If Sandusky really did do all these things, then what he did was horrendous for sure.
But I’ll tell you, the folks connected to what happened to poor Johnny Gosch and others,
are so high-up that they make Sandusky look like small potatoes by comparison.
