Unfortunately we have no car. Today in my free time I did a walking pilgrimage to the oldest shrine to Our Lady of Guadalupe in the U.S, and to the Rosario chapel. It so happens that this is the week annually when Our Lady of Conquistador is processed about a mile through town from the Cathedral of San Francisco to the Rosary chapel. Then back again after the novena. It is the oldest Marian procession in the U.S. I missed the procession but I got to venerate the lovely statue which dates from the 1600s.
Loving the Catholic atmosphere here, although I am very sorry the Loretto chapel is no longer Catholic but in private hands. I think it is confusing to people since it is intact and very Catholic inside. My hotel room looks out onto it.
Our Lady’s tears seem to be happening in New Mexico, so it makes it all the more poignant here.
