Satan and Children

At what age is Satan allowed to tempt children? Would it be seven because that is the age at which they start to receive Holy Communion?

Is he able to affect younger children without tempting them?

Is there a possibility that if a child is too young to be tempted by him to sin would he tempt an older child to tempt the younger child?

Obviously there would be no reason for Satan to tempt a baby or toddler but can he disturb them to annoy the parent or does a child’s Guardian Angel protect the young child from Satan until the child is old enough to ask for spiritual help?

Thanks.

Original sin, without demonic influence, is enough to get someone to sin, because the attraction to sin is there. Sometimes I think people give Satan too much credit and almost paint him as this near equivalent of God who personally tempts each one of us constantly. I tend to think Satan has no idea who I am, my name, background etc. But if they are indeed a demon or demons to personally drive me to ruin, then they probably know me very well. Could a neglected kid from a dysfunctional home, who is into mischief and bad stuff, influence an otherwise good kid in a bad way? Surely.

Satan can tempt a baby from the 12th hour on the first day of his second month of life, God strictly forbids Satan, however, to tempt the baby from the child’s 3rd birthday to just a few days before kindergarten. From that point on, Satan is always present, the way he’s present with you , Nelka, right this minute. Can you smell sulfur?

I think this is a serious question, and I am interested in hearing a serious answer. I do think that b/c of original sin, we are all bent towards committing sins. It’s just that when we’re younger than 7, while we have the capacity to do something we know instinctively is wrong, we don’t have the capacity to understand the consequences of the behavior. (That’s just what I think–I’m not an expert.) However, Satan hates human beings and he hates children-- I would think the most–, because children are most dear to the heart of God. So I do tend to believe that the demons are watching us from day one, just thinking of how they can “trip us up” someday when we ARE capable of mortal sin. And RobertAnthony, it is true that a lot of sin just comes from ourselves b/c we are affected by original sin; however, if you think that the demons aren’t scrutinizing your behavior and finding ways to trip you up, then you are at risk of falling into one of their traps. Just my opinion also.

A different perspective, from a person who was raised with parents with a similar mindset.

And another post:

Last one.

I was raised in a Catholic Charismatic household that had similar beliefs as yours and after going through that Hell, I gave up Christianity.

I’m not trying to convert you to my way of thinking - I’m trying to communicate that I’ve been down the path you are looking at.

It leads to darkness.

Catholicism has much that is beautiful in it. Don’t destroy it for your kids.

I’ll have to look up what “misinformed unitarian universalist” means. My dad was (and still is to some extent) a religious nut. He worked hard for a number of years for the triumph of…the Immaculate Heart of Mary. 😛 Bet you can’t top that craziness, can you? 😛 He was Catholic, devoted papist, thought Jesus’ return was a couple of years away, but i did have some contact with the charismatic movement. There was an old nun with a closed face there, wouldn’t give me the time of day, then one day I sort of acted out, and one lady made me sit right in front of the monstrance (blessed Sacrament) , with a whole bunch of people behind me. From that point on, the old nun seemed all of a sudden to care about me, would look at me as if she was genuinely concerned, my “phony” meter was through the roof. I would physically harm God if I was in his presence and he was physically available, but, fortunately for you, there seems to be some love for God intact. Are you Cajun?

Did an evil spirit not possess a young child that Jesus had to exorcise? How did he get in there?

The Catholic Church teaches that we are born in the state of original sin as a consequence of the fall of our first parents. Jesus stated that we have to be "reborn’ again. To be Baptized and become an adopted child of God. Satan does have a child sized up, he is astute, he know s with his angelic knowledge how weak human nature is. I saw an interesting show showing the reactions of young children who were told that they wouldn’t get any Christmas presents that year. Boy what a reaction I mean one became very violent. Children can be very mean to each other, and jealous. They are little rebels, and we are big ones. I often wonder at Communion time why many babies cry so loud. Many bqbies seem so unconsolable, and drive their parents to desperation. Could it be an aggravation of a spiritual nature? Some parents become violent to their babies because of continual crying. The enemy never rests and he crucifies humanity any way he can. Parents alway need to pray and offer their children to God, and protect them spiritually. The proclivity to sin is in all of us even after we are Baptized and exorcised.and that includes babies.

But how can a baby be guilty of something he does not understand, yet he is bound until he does.

That nun wasn’t a saint of the Church… the article lists her as a saint of Satan. Her possession lasted until she was advanced in years for the time and sick. Reading the whole story is saddening and a lesson in how far Satan and his demons are willing to go to cause mayhem and seek the damnation of us. Love that site btw.
This Saint was but 5 years old when she became possessed
