I feel so alone.
I have no friends. My phone rings only when it’s a wrong number.
Sometimes I feel like talking to them. Saying something like,
“Tell your friend how lucky she is that you’re trying to reach her.
How wonderful to have someone who cares.”
I know God cares for me. Yes Jesus loves me.
The reason I feel sick to my stomach right now is because
I am thinking about how I am shunned.
Even at church. And people I just met.
I joined a church a few weeks ago. I think I was too
hasty at joining. When I arrived this last Sunday, three
deacons were standing together greeting people.
Two reached to shake my hand and were very friendly.
The other one kept his hand in his pocket. I held my
hand out waiting, and he turned away. So I walked away
and sat down for service.
Now I am thinking that I don’t want to go back.
Is this Satan making my life miserable?
I already feel bad about myself, then this guy comes along
to remind me that I’m and eye sore in the body of Christ.
What should I do now?
I think I should talk to the pastor, but I already have too many
people who hate me. I don’t want people to think
I’m causing trouble.
I pray and ask God to take care of these things.
When I do speak up and try to find out why people do the
things they do,I make people more mad at me.
Please pray that I’ll do the right thing. And that God will
help me not feel like useless scum.
I wrote some letters to some people I know.
One a thank you card to the in-laws.
And one to a person I thought was my friend.
But never calls or wants to get together with me.
I do try to do things for others. I feel good making others
happy. Take flowers to a grave site. Bake cookies for a neighbor.
But they don’t ever come visit me or call just to say hi.
Oh well, thank you for letting me vent.
I have no one else to tell my troubles to.
No one cares or wants to hear it.
I’ll go listen to EWTN.
Always a good uplifting program on.
I love Arch bishop Fulton Sheen.
God’s peace be to you.

Yes, God loves you. And other people do too, you just aren’t seeing them right now. Don’t give up. Keep trying to make others feel better, but not necessarily at your own expense. Take care of yourself too. Remember, Jesus commanded that we love our neighbor as ourselves. If you love your neighbor but look down on yourself, you’re missing half of the message.

Yes, God loves you. When you feel alone, perhaps you could try spending some time with God. I love praying to Jesus in the garden. What I mean is, that I pray that my thoughts and prayers will go throught time and reach Him while he suffers in the garden (before He was taken to suffer His passion.) See, I think Jesus appreciates those who think about Him in a friendship sort of way. There is nothing we could ever give to God that wasn’t already His in the first place. But what if we turned our desires to “what could I do today, that would make God’s day better?” That may seem lofty, but think about it for a second. Do you bake cookies to get a thank you, or do you bake cookies to make someone’s day? We do things all the time to help someone have a better day, but what if our extreme desire was to not just please God, obey His words, etc. but to make His day??? WOW! Can you imagine the feeling of bringing a big cheesy smile to the face of the Father, or the Son?

I’ve been in that seat before where everyone seems to not notice my efforts and even seem to turn against me. Focus on why we do things (maybe because it is just our nature to want to please people) instead of what we get out of it here on earth. After all, this is only temporary, our GREAT reward lies elsewhere in Heaven, in the presence of the Almighty.

Satan does not want you forming any kind of attachments to God. The devil is so jealous of our place in God’s heart, that he will stop at nothing to drive a wedge. Pitiful!
God will on the opposite side do anything to keep us His…including stretching His arms out on a cross to die for our sins. The door, is always open. The way has been prepared for us. He always gives us a “do over”. We can rest in His protection.

Peace be with you always!

'“Thou hast given gladness to my heart,” wrote the psalmist (Ps. 4:7); and the Lord Himself said that “the kingdom of heaven is within you.” (cf. Luke 17:21)

. . . The crown of every good endeavor and the highest of achievements is diligence in prayer. Through it God guiding us and lending a helping hand, we come to acquire the other virtues . . . as the work of prayer is greater than other work, so it demands greater effort and attention from the person ardently devoted to it, lest without him being aware the devil deprives him of it. The greater the good a person has in his care, the greater the attacks the devil launches on him; hence he must keep strict watch, so that fruits of love and humility, simplicity and goodness - and, along with them, fruits of discrimination - may grow daily from the constancy of his prayer. These will make evident his progress and increase in holiness, thus encouraging others to make similar efforts.’

St. Symeon Metaphrastis

‘May the two names so sweet and so powerful, of Jesus and Mary, be always in our hearts and on our lips!’

St. Alphonsus Maria de Liguori

Prayer for Light and Help
by St. Claude la Colombiere

Jesus, I feel within me a great desire to please you but, at the same time, I feel totally incapable of doing this without your special light and help, which I can expect only from you. Accomplish your will in me - even in spite of me.

O Most Holy Heart

O most holy Heart of Jesus, fountain of every blessing, I adore Thee, I love Thee and with a lively sorrow for my sins, I offer Thee this poor heart of mine. Make me humble, patient, pure and wholly obedient to Thy will. Grant, good Jesus, that I may live in Thee and for Thee. Protect me in the midst of danger; comfort me in my afflictions; give me health of body, assistance in my temporal needs, Thy blessing on all that I do, and the grace of a holy death. Within Thy Heart I place my every care. In every need let me come to Thee with humble trust saying, Heart of Jesus help me.

On the Loveliness of Mary
by St. Alphonsus Maria de Liguori

Raise your voices, vales and mountains,
Flowery meadows, streams and fountains,
Praise, oh, praise the loveliest Maiden
Ever the Creator made.
Murmuring brooks, your tribute bringing,
Little birds with joyful singing,
Come with mirthful praises laden
To your Queen be homage paid.

Say, sweet Virgin, we implore thee,
Say, what beauty God sheds o’er thee:
Praise and thanks to him be given,
Who in love created thee.
Like a sun with splendour glowing,
Gleams thy heart with love o’erflowing;
Like the moon in starry heaven,
Shines thy peerless purity.

Like the rose and lily blooming,
Sweetly heaven and earth perfuming,
Stainless, spotless, thou appearest

Queenly beauty graces thee.
But, to God, in whom thou livest,
Sweeter joy and praise thou givest,
When to him in beauty nearest,
Yet, so humble thou canst be.

An eye sore in the body of Christ? That was really down rigth mean. The person who said that to you obviously has no feelings and definately not a christian! In the body of Christ, you are the apple of HIS eye. I can empathize with you. I don’t have friends either, never really had them only when they wanted something. I have my husband, and he is my rock and love him to pieces, but as far as doing a girls night out, nothing. I too do things for others, but yet seem to be invisable to them. I have developed an “I don’t care” attitude towards it. It probably is not the best way to handle it. I know you are Lutheran, but maybe you could go to a catholic church and talk to the priest since your pastor seems indifferent. He wouldn’t know you, so he wouldn’t judge you, but maybe he could help you find peace and guide you. It would not be confession, but I still think that whatever is said would be kept in confidence. Maybe even attend a Catholic mass and see how that fits, and maybe convert? 🙂 I know it is not fun and very hard to feel alone, but I’m sure other posts will offer some hope and help for you. Keep watching Bishop Sheen, he seemed to have an upbeat attitude and he always makes me feel better. Hold tight, things always work out, it might just take some time to get there.

God Bless! :console:

Hi Christina, I really can empathize with what you wrote.

Loneliness is very powerful and I have struggled with it in time before my conversion, and now after it as my family and friends refuse my invitation to go to church at all. I know I have to be patient - but it is hard because I am afraid their hardness will prevent them from being reconciled with God.

Bishop Sheen was certainly a gift from God. Here is a short clip on loneliness.

Please, Christina, worship at a Catholic Mass!!!
We’re all in the same boat, some have more confidence, conviction and courage than others. Work on those three; they are based on faith (the fide in confidence), hope and love. Work is good, and good for a person’s dignity. “Whoever does not work shall not eat.” Magic doesn’t exist but Satan’s influence does. He wants people to believe they can be lazy and still prosper. Drugs, alcohol, promiscuity, etc., can be a ‘quick fix’, but the persistence and hard work of Job in the Bible are what brings eternal joy and wholesome relationships. I have the problem of harassment at work by the hedonists; when I hear the radio blaring, “Angel In My Centerfold”, I whistle “Angels I Have Heard On High”. A Mighty Fortress Is Our God helps me to endure unGodly music and slander. Pray for me and my family and I will pray for you:) I like your name, it is Christ-like:) God bless you, Colmcille&Kin

To add, start a devotion to St Michael. He is our defender in battle to keep Satan and his dominons away from us. I have started a devotion to him and have become more at peace and do feel as though evil is, though still present, at a greater distance from me.

St Michael

St Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle
Be our safeguard against the snares and wickedness of the devil
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do thou Prince of the heavenly host by the power of God
Cast into Hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking
the ruins of souls. Amen

Shield of Mary

O, most benign Lord Jesus Christ, only son of the Father, God Almighty, God of Angels, only Son of the Most Glorious Virgin Mary, help me, a poor sinner, and assist me in every difficulty in which I am present.

Glorious Virgin, Mother of God, woman above every dignity, worthy of every praise, intercede for me, a poor sinner, with your own loving Son.

Most honorable lady, mother of the human race and of angels, protect me from every evil, past, present and to come.

I pray you, fruit of the patriarchs, light of the angels, compatriot of angels, sublime meditation of angels and archangels, beauty of virgins, river of the Trinity, not to desert me at the fearful hour of death. May my soul hear, as it parts from my body, your comforting words in the presence of your beloved Son and you, and may I get eternal glory and abide with him.

O Star of the Sea, gate of Heaven, temple of God, palace of Christ, harbor of health, flower of every nation, hope of the faithful, well of mercy, light of virgins, you converse and delight the angels and archangels, you are the temple in which is every joy of the human race.

O most honorable Blessed Benign Lady you strengthen us in every task.

O mother of mercy look on me with eyes of mercy. I place myself under the patronage and protection of your holy hands , my soul and body, my thoughts words and deeds, that I may please your beloved Son and You. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Amen.

Hail Mary,
full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the Fruit Of Thy Womb,
Jesus.
Holy Mary,
Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth, as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now,
and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

I tried to listen to the clip, but apparantly my computer isn’t able to play it.
I’m on dial-up,that may be the problem.
I am able to listen to his sermons from his website,www.bishopsheencom.
I listen to the sermon titled,“The Humanity of Christ”.
This sermon seemed to fit the bill for what you were referring to.
I don’t see one with Loneliness in the title.
But he is good. What a blessing his sermons have been in my life.
God’s peace be to you.
