Satan is insanely jealous of us.

Every time when I forget to say the Rosary (aka yesterday) I sin the next day (aka just now). I always want to love Jesus, I visit the Tabernacle, I try fasting, I try keeping Jesus in my mind, but when I don’t say the Rosary, I fail.

And each time I sin for once, I sin more until I finally go to Confession. I am a weak and wretched sinner.

Even if God does not condemn my mortal sin, I myself am still ashamed of my trespasses - I hate sinning, but my flesh always fails! I’ve had enough of that, and yet I still sin.

Sigh… Jesus! You know how much I want to love you! Every time when I visit you in the Tabernacle all I ask for is not worldly graces - not passing my impending exam, not better career prospect, not wealth or fame, but only your love. Even if you think I am a hypocrite, I still try bringing myself in front of you and humbly beg you to let me love you. I ask for your forgiveness not because I want to go to Heaven, but because I wish to see you and hug you one day! How much I want to be hugged by you!

Ever since 12 years old I have always been determined to become a saint and lead all souls I have met throughout my lifetime to Heaven - if better a pious priest were God so merciful to grant me a vocation - and I know I will, so Satan is attacking me - and all of us. I am now 22, and yet time flies and many souls suffer without my good work! I am so sorry for my imperfection especially when so many people I’ve seen, so many people in human history, so many non-Christians or my fellow Catholics, have done so many great things inconceivable to my magnanimity!

Sigh… Dear brothers and sisters on Catholic Answers Forum, I beseech you, do not be as unrepentant, impure and stupid as me. I am always so foolish that I succumb to illusions and lies of the Satan. Please say the Rosary and say one more for someone (like me) who is so unworthy of God’s Salvation.

Do not cease praying the Rosary, please… so many people in the world don’t even know the Rosary or Jesus… I feel so miserable for Jesus!!! 😦

You’re right. He knows he blew it. All he can do is to hurt God by removing us from grace.
But don’t’ worry about Jesus. He can handle Himself He has it all in hand. Satan will never take anything from Him, and will never hurt Him. It’s our own souls we need to guard.

peace

Im not sure jealousy is the right word for what satan feels…more like envy, he wants to be worshiped like God, he tried to overthrow heaven for this very reason, and actually the way the world is today, I have a feeling satan is laughing with delight, if more people end up damned than those that achieve heaven, satan will have manipulated the majority of people to his side, or drew the majority away from God/the truth, so in that aspect, he has definitely won.

When I think about God and satan, I keep coming back to that verse where Satan meets up with God and God asks him where he has been, satan replies he has been coming and going from the earth, first off, why are they meeting, and why would God ask him such a question? what was the outcome of this meeting if these two hate each other as the bible says?

I think the exact relationship of God and Satan is beyond our human understanding. God cannot love what is evil. But who’s to know but God if Satan might have a tiny speck of good left in him somewhere. Plus, if anyone could have some love for his very worst enemy, then that would be God. But like I said, this is all beyond our puny brains, we can’t take it in.

Nope. THe Church is VERY clear about Satan.

That is very heartfelt and a good prayer, thank you. Repentance and atonement from humility before the great love that Jesus has for us, and self-knowledge when we see how much we’ve failed and time lost. Plus, yes - Satan is insanely, passionately hateful towards us and wants to steal our peace, happiness -and ultimately take our soul. He knows, for some us us under Our Lady’s protection, that he will never win. However, he tries to destroy the good we do.
Yes, the Rosary should be our lifeline. If we wouldn’t forget eating a meal each day, we should never miss our Rosary. I’ve experienced exactly the same thing years ago - miss the Rosary one day, and incredible attacks would come upon me.
Eventually, I realized I had to increase that prayer and not just do the minimum.
All of that said, yes we are miserable sinners - but we cannot identify ourselves by our sins. We have to remember the great Victory that Jesus is winning in our lives today, even as bad as we may be. He has great things planned for us - we just have to stay with Him.
That’s the hardest thing sometimes. We see our sins. Satan mocks us. It feels even worse. However, we have to see the good inside of us and we have to remember we are going to rise above, and we will conquer our bad habits.

I figured someone would pop off with that. I am one who doesn’t always think the Church is as clear as everybody else seems to think, but in any event, it’s of little consequence to my daily life either way.

God has the capability for loving anything which is not completely evil; only God knows if Satan has any capacity to be less than “completely evil” and also, only God knows why he and Satan would bother to meet, talk, or have anything to do with each other. For that matter, only God knows why God allows Satan to continue to exist. These are great mysteries that I choose to leave up to God while I just concentrate on trying to avoid Satan in my daily life.

When Angels made their choice, the choice was more perfect than ours because of their nature. Their knowledge and the strength of their will was such that their choice is eternal.

With the demons, their choice is eternal too.

They retain the angelic nature as in having an intellect and a will but there’s no moral goodness nor a chance to return to it. If we saw the devil we would see every vice in him displayed to its maximum capacity.

In God there is no darkness… So God and the devil are totally opposite

How exactly? The Church doesn’t talk about satan very much at all, except for the Garden of Evil and Jesus’ temptation. And when a Catholic talks about satan/demonic possession/harassment, even priests will laugh at you (just take some anti-depressants!). Satan is real and quite active in this world. The more the Church ignores him, the stronger he becomes.

There’s actually a lot written about the fallen angels. Not only about Jesus’ temptation. Maybe not as much in new literature. What about the Spiritual Combat?

As for priests laughing at you, many won’t, for example I attend a Latin Mass parish and the priests there definitely know the devil is real…

Anything that exists has some good in it, and it is preserved in existence by God.
It is impossible for any being to be totally evil. Satan actually does a lot of good on earth, in spite of the fact that this angers him even more. When Satan tempts us and we resist, we get stronger against him. So, Satan serves God’s justice in His divine order. Satan also preserves some of the good gifts (intelligence, power) that God gave him. But all of Satan’s thoughts and actions are directed towards evil.
And also, God honors Satan since God does not go back on his promise or his Word, or his Love for all his Creatures.
The honor that God gives to Satan is to let him actually take souls with him to Hell.
If a soul wants to follow Satan, and if Satan wins the combat to get a soul - God allows Satan to claim that victory.
That’s why evil spreads. People serve Satan and God honors Satan’s “victories” by giving him the reward - more souls for Hell.
If we want to resist Satan, of course, God does everything to help and we will win against him.

I agree. Many priests would generally laugh about this and suggest an anti-depressant. I see Catholics here on CAF with that attitude all the time (they got it from their priests, most likely).
But I’m also blessed to attend a Latin Mass parish so we definitely hear about the reality of the devil.
(I’m not suggesting this is only true for Latin Mass parishes - there are others, but it doesn’t seem to be the norm elsewhere).

That’s sad… I wonder why that is. Its too bad though because some people really need help with demonic attacks and it might be harder for them to find someone to talk to… There are the exorcists but often people are just attacked, not possessed.

Yes, true.
As for the reason why - it’s a lot of things, but I think the main cause is the general trend in the Church among many people (priests, laity - even bishops) is to move away from the supernatural aspect of Catholicism and present a more human-centered or worldly view of everything.
A belief that the devil is active in the world and that demons actually attack people to tempt them to sin, is considered to be an old-fashioned belief. Many Catholics put science as the greatest authority on almost everything and they don’t believe that God even really interacts in the world.
Much of this comes from a lack of prayer.

He’s probably more fustrated than anything, but the scary thing is, he will be there till your last breath on this earth, waiting for any oppertunity to slip you up, he knows what’s coming, he just want’s to grab as many people as he can.

I have seen the above bolded attitude among many people, and sadly even among many Catholics. God interacts with each and every one of us every day of our lives. We just live self-centered lives and cannot see God’s works or messages, and if we do see them, we are thought as crazy people whom God talks to - “What do you think you’re special and only God talks to you! You’re nuts!” The thing is God talks to all of us, it’s whether we choose to listen.

I have had many supernatural events happen to me over the past year (evil and good) and I keep them to myself since most people think I am crazy. I am not crazy, and I know God has been trying to get my attention for a long time. Now I’m listening and now I see the supernatural all around us.

Yes, I totally agree. I’ve had many such events happen to me also and I’m grateful to be able to notice them. So, you’re not crazy at all. Actually, I think the Catholics who don’t believe God ever does anything in the world are the ones that really don’t make any sense. You’re right - they’re just paying attention to their own interests and never actually see what is happening. Plus, they don’t seem to turn to God for help on a regular basis, so they miss a lot that way.

Ah it’s hard to say really, i think it comes down to how strong your faith is really, strong faith is a blessing afterall, a lot of us who are still seeking God are desperate to look for these things rather than being too self centred. although being self centred, especially at a time of need is very common, you sort of lose all sight when you are down.
