Me and my husband like board games and crime stories and were interested in this game as a way have some fun date nights at home (we have a 3mo baby):
amazon.com/gp/product/2914849893/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2O0NLZPCZ5AO5

I was about to buy it when I noticed the name of the seller, asmodee, which i remembered being the name of a demon mentioned by an exorcist in an article.

Doing some research on the company, I see names of other of their games seem suspicious to say the least:
legrog.org/editeurs/asmodee-editions-siroz

I am now very much in doubt on what to do…is it safe to buy/play the game? Am I being over-anxious?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Does the game itself have any Satanic content? If not, I fail to see why it would be a problem. 🤷

Some companies just name their brand really dumb names.

Will the gajillion games out there…if it bothers you, just purchase something else. 🤷

When I see something that is remotely satanic (eg.- a song, game, movie, etc.) I just walk away.
My salvation is more important…and there are more enjoyable activities, anyway!

I’d say you’re being overly anxious about it. It’s just the company name. But if it bothers you that much, find a new game by another company.

Do you research every game company? The game looks fine, buy it if you want it. 🤷

I looked at their site, too. A lot of it is Satanic/demonic oriented entertainment. The company name is French for the demon in Tobit, Asmodeus. I also read that Siroz is short for “cirrhosis”. With all this talk of cirrhosis and demons, I would avoid giving my money to this company. Your red flags are telling you something. Listen to them.

The only game of theirs that I’d even heard of previously is 7 Wonders. It’s literally just a French board game publishing and distribution company. If the concern here is that people who play their board games will suffer demonic oppression or some other form of bad influence, stop. That kind of hyperzealous concern may well lead people into scrupulosity. Siroz is just the Turkish word for cirrhosis, and could easily be made up anyway. I would have named it Karmoz, which turns out to be a town in Alexandria even though it’s a string of letters I made up on the spot. If this publisher’s name makes anyone uncomfortable, just don’t buy their products. Let’s not make this into a bigger issue than it deserves to be.

Magnificat, read other customer reviews of the game. If it sounds fun and you think you and your husband will enjoy it, go for it. If the name of the publisher gives you the heebie jeebies, just find another game by another publisher with a different name. Buying a game by this company isn’t going to result in anything bad, unless the game just isn’t fun.

I agree with Boomerang. I would choose another game. For me, if I went forward and purchased it, I would always have those thoughts in the back of my mind and it would interfere with enjoying the game as a stay at home date with my husband. I am not overly suspicious of these things yet if I have feelings similar to those that you are having, I pray for discernment and if it continues to bother me I would walk away.

I don’t understand why there is so much discussion about this…if it has anything to do with satan…leave it alone! 🤷

👍 That’s good advice.

If you suspect something its probably best to stay away. This is so much garbage out there these days that we just can’t keep track of it all. Exorcists warn of the well known and dangerous ones like Ouija Boards but doesn’t mean to say there aren’t others out there like it.
Its like most Catholics are either unaware or refuse to accept that the practice of yoga can be dangerous even though three renowned exorcists have warned against it.

I agree. The name was chosen for some reason. So I would not want to support their business. Buy it somewhere else if you can. If not, buy something else, somewhere else.
