After doing some research about satanic symbols and their use in mainstream media. I’m beginning to see it more and more. It’s shocking how much our culture is embracing demonic doctrines and placing these ideas right under our noses. And I can see the importance of needing to be very discerning about what music I listen to as well as TV programs. People think I’m crazy but this stuff is everywhere, and I think its important to be aware of it. I think Lady Gaga is the worst offender of them all. She doesn’t really hide the fact that she is worshiping satan either. She has a song about glorifying Judas, and loving Judas. Its pretty sick and since this stuff is so prevalent in pop culture, it would be good to put a filter on our minds to make sure we don’t absorb this garbage. There is something to be said about subliminal influence.

I found these video’s that show these satanic messages, hidden in plain sight.

You know, just because someone puts something in a song – especially someone who’s looking for publicity and notoriety – that doesn’t prove they actually believe it.

Also, a lot of these people don’t even believe that Satan is real. You have to believe in something in order to worship it.

Not denying that Satan is working in modern culture, but it’s very easy to cross the line into tin foil hat / conspiracy territory. There is a cottage industry in finding Illuminati / Antichrist symbolism everywhere. Personally I’d avoid any site or videos that brand themselves “Truthers.”

I worry enough about like, everything. I don’t have to seek out conspiracies to worry about. I even purposely avoid things like that.

Ever hear about the whole monster drink thing?
Evangelical fundamentalists will do anything to twist things into Satanic conspiracies. The three stripes of the M being translated as “666”, Monster referring to “the beast” and some profane references on the can? Give me a break.

While it is certainly true that we must shield our mind, (which however might seem almost to require blindfolding our own eyes!) it is also true that none of this is new.

More than a generation ago, teenagers were playing with the Ouija board, chanting Bloody Mary, drawing pentagram on school staircases and spinning records backward to hear demonic messages (this last having become technologically obsolete).

The music logos of the 1980s were rife with occultic symbols like pentagrams and lightning bolts.

There is nothing new under the sun.

It’s evidence!

Some stuff is more over the top than others. I’ve seen unapologetically satanic stuff on websites like RedBubble and deviantART. But I don’t let it bother me. I compare it to Al Qaeda’s “death to America” messages; it’s meant to be provocative and intimidating. They can mock, twist, and distort Christ and Christianity, but they cannot refute or defeat Christ (and that’s because they cannot refute of defeat Him).

It reminds me of a Calvin and Hobbes strip where Calvin’s mom explains that they haven’t actually sacrificed themselves to Satan because they do it for the shock value and the money it brings in.

Still, none of this excuses such things. But it puts it in perspective.

Professed Catholics will do this too. One website claimed Ignatius of Loyola and Benedict XVI were Masons because there are images of them with their index, middle, and ring fingers up, supposedly in an “M” shape (never mind the fact that “Ignatius” was actually an image of Christopher Columbus, and the Masons did not come around till centuries after both).

I agree with you it is important to keep guard over our mind, what goes in our eyes and our ears. There is much evil and satanism out there and the more Christianity, especially Catholicism, is under attack the worse the satanism gets because people want to show their rebellion by doing just what they are told they should not do.

I agree with others that is has been around in music, television and pop culture for many years but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be aware of it, fight it and warn others about it. There were people who chose evil then as there are people choosing evil now. Just like souls were lost then, there are souls that will be lost now because of choices made.

We need to always do our best to choose Jesus and the good he offers and encourage others to do so also.

Greetings all,

It has more recently seemed to me that it is better simply to keep one’s eyes on Christ, rather than on trying to dodge the devil.

Cheers,
Curundu

You are right, but a lot of people don’t think Satan or Satanism are real. We have to be very discerning about what see and hear. When we keep hearing and seeing Satanic messages, gestures and symbols, over and over, we can absorb and think they don’t matter.

Best,
Ed

Yes, it always starts with the mysterious illuminati, the beast, 666 all over the place, the pyramid with the eye, everything holding a light is Lucifer = Satan.
If you follow these YouTube threads you’ll inevitably get to Pope-is-the-Antichrist videos.

People love conspiracy theories and the internet gives anyone a soapbox to stand on.

We live in a world of good and evil, not good versus evil. I doubt that our “modern” world could sustain itself without the influence of evil, which God wills. So it is business as usual everywhere for Satan, including the pop culture.

Personally, I have found that NOT exposing myself to the popular culture… tv, movies, magazines, commercials, music, and especially the gossip about pop figures, has lead to better dreams, less temptation to sin, and Way more time to Pray. I also feel that although we are to be in the world preaching Christ it does not mean we have to “drink the kool-aid” it serves. There is much in the way of relaxation and entertainment that is not pushing the hedonistic “god” of self, which is one of satan’s oldest and best deceptions, but actually draws us nearer to God, such as lives of the Saints in both written form and movies, or just neutral activities like flying a kite (being careful of what is pictured on the kite). I do not think images promoted for shock value are meaningless or acceptable whether used for shock value or not. I don’t want them in my head or those of anyone I love. As someone who has not always been a Christian in my life and heart (although I was baptized and properly raised in the Church), I have many thought scars from my involvement in our secular culture. Playing with things of the devil should not be taken lightly. Satan doesn’t take it lightly. He rejoices.
Sorry if this got rant-y. I just am around many people who don’t believe and even scoff at our Lord every day ( and yes I am called to love them and evangelize and I do the best I can) and I can see how our culture can obscure goodness, and truth and beauty.
God Bless you all and Keep fighting the Good fight.

God does Not Will evil. He allows it to preserve our freedom

If I hear a song or see a video with references to the devil…I just put it in my trash bin & that’s where it stays!
