What is Satanism?

Satanism, the first carnal religion in human history, was codified and established by Anton Szandor LaVey (1930-1997) with the founding of the Church of Satan in 1966 C.E. (Year One). It is a religion and a philosophy based on man as he really is: a carnal being free from the fiction that is spirituality and one who champions total responsibility, pragmatism, and the here-and-now. Currently, the Church of Satan is headed by High Priest Peter H. Gilmore, High Priestess Peggy Nadramia, and Magistra Blanche Barton. I’ve had better reads than the satanic bible. I’d put it a cut above scientology and a cut below Ann Raynd (sp?). But I recognize how easy it is to criticize belief systems that are not my own, so I don’t mean to imply one can’t find value in it. To each his own. On the plus side, there is a lot less emphasis on killing in the satanic bible than there is in mine.

satanism seems about as likely to land you in hell as thearpy, which can be seen as having a similar goal. At least satanism is cheaper.

The atheists have it all wrong. God has to be the unicorn, and the devil is Tim Curry (from Legend circa 1985). That way they can at least battle it out with the help of Tom Cruise!

Let’s be polite and not bash Loginus just for presenting the difference between the two forms of S(s)atanism. It seems to me the original poster was more interested in learning about satanism.

As for being in hell, according to SP, we will all be there… except the chosen 144,000 who will be wearing bike helmets ad infinitum.

I find it extremely difficult to take those types of people serioulsy.
When they play God and start spouting off about who’s going to Heaven and who’s going to hell, they immediately lose their credibility with me. :tsktsk:

As for the other thing, It was pointed our earlier in the discussion Satanists dont actually worship Satan. They are in fact, atheists. Its really more of a running joke to irritate ignorant christians. The model thing is because they view the character of God as a beaurocrat (sp?)whom dislikes individuality and free-thought.

Not saying its right or wrong but again, they dont actually worship Satan. being atheists they equate God/Satan to elves and unicorns

This is an interesting post. So I have to ask, are there people who practice what’s called the black Mass or is that mainly a myth? I’d go look it up but I’m afraid I’d faint.

I was in a hospital Emergency room once and there was a man sitting across who had a book in his hand that read “Black Mass”. I didn’t dare ask him about it, but he was staring at me. Probably looking at my crucifix or just knowing I was a Christian. Maybe he felt uncomfortable, who knows.
I was ready tho if he were to say anything to me.
