In the book The Rite: The Making of a Modern Exorcist, the author says that there really are cases of people making pacts with the devil for money and fame.

The book was a report on the life and work of Father Gary Thomas, an exorcist. On YouTube, there’s a video of him giving a talk on how some victims of satanic sects tell him of the Illuminati (yes, apparently it’s real), and he says that it’s a sect of satanists who try to raise to prominent positions in society.

So here’s the question. Which figures have been known to have done things like that?

I can think of some modern celebrities who are famous for no reason, and I was told they might be Illuminati. I guess we can’t speculate seriously on that here. However, perhaps there are historical figures who are known to have committed these evils?

For example, wasn’t there another sister during Saint Teresa of Avila’s time who was a supposed mystic, but it turned out she was a charlatan and was in league with demons? Are there any more?

St Maria de Jesus was mystic who had visions and apparently she said something about Free Masons being a big threat to the Church and the world.

Saint Theophilus was the archdeacon of Adana, Cilicia which is part of modern Turkey. He was unanimously elected to be a bishop, but turned the position down out of humility. Another man was elected in his stead. When the new bishop unjustly deprived Theophilus of his position as archdeacon, Theophilus regretted his humility and sought out a wizard to help him contact Satan. In exchange for his aid, Satan demanded that Theophilus renounce Christ and the Virgin Mary in a contract signed with his own blood. Theophilus complied, and the devil gave him the position as bishop.

Years later, fearful for his soul, Theophilus repented and prayed to the Virgin for forgiveness. After forty days of fasting, the Virgin appeared to him and verbally chastised him. Theophilus begged forgiveness and Mary promised to intercede with God. He then fasted a further thirty days, at which time Mary appeared to him again, and granted him absolution. However, Satan was unwilling to relinquish his hold over Theophilus, and it was a further three days before Theophilus awoke to find the damning contract on his chest. He then took the contract to the legitimate bishop and confessed all that he had done. The bishop burned the document, and Theophilus dies, out of sheer joy to be free from the burden of his contract.

I dont think its a big stretch to think there is such a group as the Illuminati, after all, Im sure there are very powerful men in the world, who are extremely against any kind of religion or God, their god is money, greed, power, lust, etc, so they know which ‘god’ to worship…Satan…Its possible Satan may have helped some of these people out so they gain more powerful positions in the world, to further his cause.

Sadly though, these men, no matter how intelligent they may think they are, are being used by Satan, he could care less about them or any of us, but if some humans are willing to help him with his desires, Im sure he would help them out in anyway he could, as long as he benefits in the end.

Look at what alot of the largest CEOs in the world are into…they run the pedophile child sex trade all over the world, they only care about power and money, human life means nothing to them. I believe anyone can see who they are worshiping thru the way they live their lives…and these are some truly evil men!

Furthermore, I would not put it past satan to ‘buy’ some souls, like I said above, as long as he benefits, I doubt he cares, so while it may seem to benefit the person on earth, this is only for a limited time, in the end, Satan will get what he wants out of the deal, and it will be far more than the human got from the same deal!

The Illuminati were a secularist society. Most of the early modern secret societies were precursors to what we now call ‘political think tanks’. Most of these societies were interested in promoting secularism and liberal economics (capitalism on the one hand and socialism to appear later on the other hand).

The ‘mystical’ appearances used by these organizations were meant to disguise their true, political intentions (Protestant secularism, capitalism, nationalism, anti-Catholicism, etc.). Of course, one could argue that at the highest level of these organization there is some genuine mystery of a diabolical nature.

That brings up an interesting point. Is Freemasonry satanic?

They might be benign in the US today, but they definitely had an anti-clerical agenda in the past. I remember reading that they were a threat in Portugal back at the time of Out Lady of Fatima.

Wow, I’d never have thought that we’d actually have a saint with that kind of history.

Skip to 1:09:15 or so, Father Thomas talks about the Illuminati. Today at least, it’s more than just a think tank.

I believe they are actively trying to bring on the anti-christ, they are the ones actively trying to get a one world currency, one world Govt to some extent, they are people in very high positions of power and do hold sway over such things.

I have a feeling they may have been promised alot more power by Satan, once the antichrist comes on the scene, probably told they will have power over a large portion of the world…thats all these people care about…POWER, and are so blinded by it, they would actually believe what Satan tells them!!

However they are fools, once satan gets what he wants and the anti-christ arrives, my guess is, he will push these ‘powerful’ people aside like they are nothing…not much they can do about it either.

Not to mention the Cristero War in Mexico. The openly Masonic rulers of Mexico violently oppressed and murdered Catholics. At that time spiritualism and agnosticism were quite popular in Mexico. This stuff isn’t even an obscure conspiracy, but quite open in the pages of history, even if ignored.

Think Rasputin was a satanist? Exorcists do say the eyes show when a person is possessed, and Rasputin didn’t exactly look normal. It would explain his healing powers, which demons can do to trick people. The shoe would seem to fit, though I’m not an expert on the guy.

How about Hitler?
“That a person who made his way up from the lowest level of society — he had loafed around not doing much of anything and had no real education — the he could set a century in motion, that he could make political decisions with demonic insight and could make people listen to him, even educated people, that is terrifying. …

“… Hitler was able to foresee demonic situations. For instance, I read once an account of how the preparations were made for Il Duce’s visit to Berlin. Those who were responsible for various aspects of it made their suggestions, and after a long time he said: ‘No, none of that is right. I can see how it ought to go.’ And in a kind of ecstasy he delivered a lecture about it, and it was all done like that. …

“One certainly cannot say that Hitler was the devil; he was a man. But there are reliable reports by eyewitnesses that suggest he had some kind of demonic encounters, that he would say, trembling: ‘He was there again’, and other such things. We cannot get to the bottom of it. I believe we can say he was taken to the demonic realm in some profound way, by the way he was able to wield power and by the terror, the harm, that his power inflicted.”

No, I don’t think so.

Lenin was though and he influenced Stalin.

Mao killed even more people. I wonder if he was.

Yes Mao has the title of Supreme Evil (of humans). JFK wanted his title but thankfully Khrushchev was the bigger man.

Don’t forget that the antichrist will make all these people seem like naughty children.

As far as Hitler is concerned he definitely was but saw himself as a god and even had (I will not write it) the Our Father changed for the Hitler Youth to say which was for him.

Is the antichrist even a real future person? I thought it was Nero. At least that’s what academia says.

Nero is the one that most biblical scholars say was the beast of Revelation. And I think the beast is synonymous with the antichrist. There have been many of what can be called small ‘a’ antichrists through history. But, the Church has always taught there is an End Times big ‘A’ Antichrist which, in my opinion, is the one that is called the second beast in the book of Revelation. I think that Nero, the first beast in my opinion, prefigures the End Times Antichrist. This also seems to correspond to how there was even a legend that Nero would return.

“The continuation of this text announces that before the Lord’s arrival there will be apostasy, and one well described as the “man of lawlessness”, “the son of perdition” (2: 3) must be revealed, who tradition would come to call the Antichrist.” - Benedict XVI, General Audience at St. Peter’s Square 12 November 2008

This is the passage from the Holy Bible that Pope Benedict XVI was referencing:

“Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our assembling to meet him, we beg you, brethren, not to be quickly shaken in mind or excited, either by spirit or by word, or by letter purporting to be from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. Let no one deceive you in any way; for that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God.” - 2 Thessalonian 2:1-4

“Before Christ’s second coming the Church must pass through a final trial that will shake the faith of many believers. The persecution that accompanies her pilgrimage on earth will unveil the “mystery of iniquity” in the form of a religious deception offering men an apparent solution to their problems at the price of apostasy from the truth. The supreme religious deception is that of the Antichrist, a pseudo-messianism by which man glorifies himself in place of God and of his Messiah come in the flesh.” - CCC, 675

Those who are for so-called same-sex “marriage” claim Nero (their only example in history) as being for this. Nero being the only one in history associated with the abomination of SS’M’ makes him unique. That’s why I believe that so-called same-sex “marriage” is the mark of the beast. And this isn’t only about homosexuals. Since, according to census statistics, homosexuals only make up about 2% or less of the population it actually means that heterosexuals make up the majority of the ones who are pushing for this. I believe that the SS"M" ceremony gives the mark on the hand while heterosexuals can receive the mark on their head by encouraging it.

“Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name.” - Revelation 13:16-17

“The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is to ascend from the bottomless pit and go to perdition; and the dwellers on earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, will marvel to behold the beast, because*** it was and is not and is to come***.”- Revelation 17:8

Fascinating. I didn’t know that the Antichrist as a future actual person was an official teaching in the Catechism.

Even when I asked professors, they tell me that it was Nero. Funny, we never hear about this in the pulpit. Only evangelicals focus on this.
