Satan's temptation

I think this is the first time I ever experienced such strong of doubt for catholicism in these years, especially after my consecration to virgin mary.

I just finished my consecration to the immaculate heart of Mary a few weeks ago. Just then in these weeks, someone I don’t really know suddenly told me there is no much difference between christianity and catholicism. Then I suddenly came across the video talking about the difference, and saying christianity is the only true church and not catholic, there are also some bible proof and logically I somehow agree that. I even started to question there is no vocation such thing, and I think of many things to doubt of my religion.

I feel horrible as I feel there is a strong temptation to let me doubt of catholicism suddenly, especially after I consecrated to Mary a few weeks ago.

Do you think this is Satan’s temptation?
 
First of all, Catholicism IS Christianity.

Second, there are no Bible quotes that can be used to negate the Catholic Church. All of them have been refuted since the start of the Protestant revolt.

If you post one or two of the anti-Catholic claims, many of the people here can help you refute them.

Also, it’s important to understand that many of the best Catholic theologians & apologists (like Dr. Scott Hahn and Tim Staples) were formerly Protestant and used to use these same arguments to pull Catholics out of the Catholic Church.

When they all started researching the Church Fathers and the Old Testament to refute the Catholic Church, that’s when the realized the Catholic Church teaches what the early Christians believed.

OH, and yes… the evil one tempts us with all sorts of things.
 
@Shanishani7: Yes. What you describe is Satan’s temptation.

Catholicism is Christianity. The other Christian denominations broke away from the True Church, or are breakaway factions of denominations that left the True Church.

If you have recently consecrated yourself to the Blessed Virgin Mary, it is to be expected that Satan will try to tempt you, to weaken your faith.
 
Sorry all, I typed wrongly. Not christianity, should be “Protestant” Church instead.

Someone told me there is no much difference between catholic church and protestant church. And the video I came across is saying Protestant is the true church.

One more thing for satan’s temptation - my brown scapular suddenly broken :eek: only after a few days after my consecration day, which made me took off the brown scapular. Then all those things happened.
 
One of the things I appreciated about Catholicism when I was researching religion is how open to reason it is. The Church does not avoid the intellectual.

As such, I would encourage you, OP, to leave aside things like feelings or coincidences or emotions or signs. Yes, the devil is often involved in all of those things, and people who base their spiritual lives on their emotions are easy prey.

Rather, look at things from an objective perspective.

I had some unusual happenings during my countdown to one of the Marion feast days when I was to consecrate myself to Jesus through Mary. It was very weird, and though some might have shrugged it off, but I didn’t. It seemed like an attempt to scare me. All it did was strengthen my resolve, and let me know that what I was about to do was worthwhile.

I think a remedy in your situation, might be to spend some time in adoration before the Holy Sacrament. Do a rosary while your there. That and treat yourself to a new prayer book or a new rosary. Get out and do something nice for yourself and spiritual at the same time.

Satan is the Prince of lies, tries to create doubt in us. Ignore it and move on. This adversary already had his butt kicked down to Hell. We celebrate that in the Passion of Christ this week.
We know Jesus established the Catholic Church with Peter and the Apostles. Jesus was the first Priest of the new One, Holy and Apostolic Catholic Church.

My Scapulars break all the time. I just tie the strings back up till I can no more. Its a hazard of life.

Personally I pray for God to stop ‘allowing’ satan so much freedom to do what he wants in our world.

We recognize all the immorality and temptation to sin as coming from Satan, but ultimately it is God who is allowing him to do this.

I read, when God’s creatures (thats us), defeat the temptation, and ignore satan, we give Glory to God.

And it continues forging our character.

2 Cor 12

*Which *Protestant Church? They don’t necessarily agree with each other, let alone with the Catholic Church, which can at least claim direct historical lineage to the time of Christ, something Protestantism cannot do.
