What do you all think about people who worship saten?also do you think thats a forgivable sin?

would this fall under blasphemy against the holy spirit? the unforgivable sin?

Interesting question…

I certainly think it falls under blasphamy…if that doesn’t, I don’t know what does!

I wonder how many people actually do it though. Thankfully, I don’t hear of it too much, but I’m sure there’s people who do it. Scary stuff

adam14,thankyou for you response

From the books I’ve read on the subject it is a “rebellion” against the popular idea of God. It originated in the Middle Ages when many felt that the yoke of the Church was heavy upon them and they couldn’t be any worse off appealing to the “enemy” for help than they were. It seems to me a “superstitious” belief seeking assistance from “the enemy of my enemy” mindset.

“Blasphemey against the Holy Spirit”? I think the “blasphemy” are the conditions that would leave someone to believe they had no other recourse to fight this oppressive “god” they feel so beset by.

Before “anyone” jumps to the conclusion I am “dissing” the CC, please put your minds at rest…I was offering one explanation…not offering an indictment.🙂

No this is not the unforgivable sin.

This is
Interesting…

So are athiests commiting the unforgivable sin by not believing in God at all? If they don’t believe in God, they obviously deny that God is able to help us, since they don’t believe at all.

Someone who actually intentionally worships God’s enemy (Satan), seems to be not only denying God, but taking sides with the enemy. To me, that seems worse…but in the end, it’s not up to me 😃

i heard about satan worshiper, but never thought that really ppl can worship satan:eek:.but now i guess i am wrong.actually in my country we think satanism as a fiction of cinema.but if its really true that a group of ppl directly worship satan then its unbelievable&horrible!!now can any body answer me who are they?are they neo pagans or a distinct group called satanist?i heard the song HOTEL CALIFORNIA.but never thought it can be true!!!

Here in America there are several satanic groups. The Church of Satan is more of an “athiestic” form of Satanism. They do not believe in an entity named “Satan”…nor do they believe in a “God”…they belive “satan” is the “life force” of nature which all benefit in.

An off shoot is the “Temple of Set” began by a former member of Anton LaVey’s “Church of Satan”, they do worship an entity they call “Set” which is the Christian “Satan” as I understand.

I know the Church of Satan has branches in Germany and England.

There are many young people who “dabble” in Satanism more to “shock” their" parents I think. It tends to be an act of rebellion against a more rigid authority than anything else. While I wouldn’t call it “harmless”, I think it is more “theatrical” in nature than truly “satanic.”

Publisher is correct about “classic” American satanism.

Yes, it can be forgiven if the person repents and seeks forgiveness.

No, it is not the unforgivable sin.

It is said that the sin is unforgivable because the person who commits it would not seek forgiveness, thus missing forgiveness for it.

All sins are forgivable with repentance. The “unforgivable sin”(Matthew 12:31-32) of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is a sin committed by one who knowingly and willingly rejects the grace of conversion in this life. If one dies in this self-imposed state of unrepentants, he cannot be saved.
There’a no reason to dread this answer, Scott!
What you call the damnable sin is also known as the sin against the Holy Spirit. It is unforgivable, not because God is ever unwilling to forgive us, but because the person donesn’t want to be forgiven. You want to be forgiven and have received absolution in the sacrament of Penance. You are safe in His hands and we are happy for you.
Do atheist commit the unforgivable sin can only be judged by God.

Is it ok to listen to Gregorian Ave Satani or Ave Satani from the Omen? To me, it is just good music.

Not if you are chanting satanic prayers or offering animals or children up…😉

They aren’t as widespread as you may think. It is a very small bunch of people really.

Organized Satanism is not wide spread at all…there are quite a few teenage and yound adult ‘dabblesr’ and “wanna be” satanists to shock and rebel against the status quo. I wouldn’t say “many” satanist groupd, but for those adults which are involved, they are serious from what I undestand.

Well, if you mean the Satanists like in “Wicker Man” or "The Omen,’ they are a rare bread. The Anton Lavay kind are more “Anti-Christian” and as such they beleive repay violence with violence, free sex as a sign of faith, and silly things like that along with invoking Satan in their rituals.

FOr example, in one of their rituals, a naked woman is used as the altar to offer things to Satan in exchange for revenge on someone.😦
