Joachim and Anne
Parents of Our Lady

This feastday is traditionally a day when we honour our grandparents.
Reading those things of which St. Anne is a patron, I noted lacemakers. The parents of St. Therese of Lisieux were lacemakers (if memory serves) and soon to be made saints…and it struck me that hence St. Anne and St. Joachim would be great patrons for those striving to be saints and especially lay persons and lay married saints.
Further reflecting before posting this, it seems to me that when the parents of St. Therese are sainted, it is almost like God saying: Parents to arms! Here are modern day married saints to be role models and pray for you along the road to holiness and sanctity.
Does anyone know anything about the life stories of the Martins (parents of St. Therese) i.e. books or links?
St. Anne is a patron of mine: Barbara Mary-Anne Therese. Thinking of my family and this feast, I noted (and for the first time!) how great are the patrons of my immediate family: Mary, Anne, Joseph, Peter, Paul, Mark, John, Vincent, Michael, Gerard, Therese, Barbara. Some are first names, others confirmation names. As we would say in Australia : “some heavy dudes in all that!”
Partronages
Anne: against poverty; barren; broommakers; cabinetmakers; carpenters; childless couples; equestrians; grandmothers; grandparents; homemakers; housewives; lace makers; lace workers; lost articles; miners; mothers; old-clothes dealers; pregnancy; pregnant women; horse riders; seamstresses; stablemen; sterility; turners; women in labour;
Brittany; Canada; France; Quebec; archdiocese of Detroit, Michigan; diocese of Norwich, Connecticut; Santa Ana Indian Pueblo; Taos, New Mexico.
Joachim: fat***hers, grandfathers, grandparents. ***
