St. Josemaria Escriva, the founder of Opus Dei, taught that holiness is not just for the religious or priests, that holiness is available to everyone. I encourage everyone to take a moment to read a little of his very short quotes or listen to one of his videos, and learn from this great modern saint.

His seminal work is The Way. Pick a topic at escrivaworks.org/book/the_way-subject.htm and enjoy. The quotes are only a sentence or two each. Some will make you laugh. Some will make you cry. Every single one will make you want to be a better Christian.

Apparently it is. No one is more confused than I am at this point.

I went to a Mass to celebrate the feast day of St. Josemaria Escriva this past Saturday, June 14. I threw away the invitation card they mailed me but am sure that it was advertised as such. Fr. Brissom celebrated at St. Peter Channel in Roswell Georgia. All the Opus Dei people from Atlanta were there, confession line was long, big reception after, etc.

I believe different dioceses celebrate his feast on different days, depending on logistics. Here in LA, this year’s celebration is on June 21th in St. Basil’s Church at 11am.
