“The blood of martyrs is the seed of the Church.” When the king burned these Christians alive in the 1880s, he didn’t suppress Christianity. Rather it is better to say because of it, 45% of the people in Uganda now are Catholics. Last year 500,00 people came to their great shrine, venerating them on this feast day, June 3, people who came from Uganda and other countries in Africa, many walking there in a pilgrimage for hundreds of miles.
As this video speaks especially of one of these martyrs, Charles Lwanga, it does very well in giving the story of these martyrs and what happened afterwards.
