Saturday Night Live: Christmas Mass

Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t find any humor in this. The Mass is a memorial. a memorial in which we call to mind the passion, death, resurrection and ascension of our Lord. I think of the Virgin Mary, His incomparable Mother standing at the foot of the Cross with her heart pierced through and through…and I find that there’s nothing laughable about it. When I think of Our Lord’s command; “Do this in remembrance of Me,” and then watch these bunch of bozos mocking the very sacrifice that He wanted the faithful to repeat and participate in…I can’t imagine that there are any in heaven who are laughing at this. Again, maybe it’s just me, but there are some things that preclude laughter.

It wasn’t making fun of the Mass itself, but the people AT Mass. Which you gotta admit, was pretty accurate. It wasn’t mean spirited or disrespectful in my opinion.

We Catholics are a funny bunch, it’s good to laugh at ourselves every now and then.

It is comments about irreverence and similar comments that makes me refuse to even check out the extraordinary form. ***All I can think of is people with their noses in the air, ***making fun of other forms of mass that are totally approved by the church.

Please be careful. In one fell swoop, you insulted a whole group of Catholics here!

Did you see the skit we’re all talking about?

There was no mockery of the Mass, unless you find it offensive to utter the word “Spectacular” in the same breath as “Mass.” I don’t–IMO, all Masses are spectacular because of the Miracle of Transubstantiation.
