You asked for the specific verses and I gave you a reference that tells of them. Plus, it tells how they are translated. Just listing many of the English translations would likely obscure the meaning for many readers because of the translation.
Sorry Joe I should have mentioned i am a poor scholar this problem excludes me often from discussion and religions. Long answers “links” are hard 4 me they oft contain so much more than the question and often opinion that clutters me little brain.
in the Quran he was instructed or did pray for forgiveness of his sins done and those he was to do.
I reckon it is Surah 47.19 Bless ya Joe

AsSalum o Aleikum Dear Brother elwill,
would you know if this is the sura in the Quran and there is another i think.
I am slow to search and don’t have a good concordance for the Quran.

Also Brother may i ask the meaning of your name?

By His will may Allah bless and guide you and yours as yous submit unto Him

47-19 So know (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) that, La ilaha illallah (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah) , and ask forgiveness for your sin, and also for (the sin of) believing men and believing women. And Allah knows well your moving
about, and your place of rest (in your homes).

40-55 So be patient (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم). Verily, the Promise of Allah is true, and ask forgiveness for your fault and glorify the praises of your Lord in the 'Ashi (i.e. the time period after the midnoon till sunset) and in the Ibkar (i.e. the time period from early morning or sunrise till before midnoon) [it is said that, that means the five compulsory congregational Salat (prayers) or the 'Asr and Fajr prayers].
Also Brother may i ask the meaning of your name?
sure 🙂
my actual name is waleed , el_well is the name which my closest friends call me
as you call john by johny for example
By His will may Allah bless and guide you and yours as yous submit unto Him
you too 🙂

I just lost my lunch.
As a “former muslim” byzantine wolf-you wouldn’t have lost your lunch because khomeini is condemned by mainstream islam as an extremist shi’ite.
finally some good comments from christians…thank you brothers 👍

That’s the big thing Steven, Mohammed clearly was a sinner.
Yeah and? Us muslims already know he was a sinner. He made numerous minor mistakes and always asked for forgiveness after his mistake from Allah the almighty, the only, the all-knowing, the all-wise.
so what is the big thing???

Why did the father take his daughter’s silence to mean “she was shy about it” and still FORCE her into the marriage anyway? Perhaps she was afraid to speak up because maybe she would be punished if she did?

What happens if her “husband” dies? Is she free to be a little girl again, or will her father push her into another marriage?

I have a niece who just turned 10. Thank GOD we are Catholic and don’t believe in forced marriages to men 70 years older.

first of all , we don’t know what the father really did with his daughter , may be he didn’t even ask her

secondly , i said that when she keep silence out of shyness , so it means that she agree

we didn’t said her silence out of fear means that she agree

and don’t try to tell me that the father is actually a good man who thouht that her daughter happy with the marriage because she kept silent , if that’s true then he is fool , and it’s not fair to blame islam becuase of his foolishness

i don’t think that this marriage is accaptable in islam , generally force someone in marriage is not acceptable in islam

i’m one of more than 90% of muslims who don’t believe in forced marriages as whole .
the same as you, i’m proud to be muslim for that either 🙂

Muslims don’t seem in general afraid to impose their beliefs on others. Yet even though it is claimed that this practice is overwhelmingly opposed by Muslims, it continues, and continues and continues unabbatted in many countries that are dominately Muslim.

Maybe you would explain that.

please don’t change my post to say I am a Muslim, I am a CATHOLIC. My faith certainly does not believe in arranged marriages, a practice that should have stopped a long time ago.

I believe we are still waiting for an explanation for why a 10 year old would be made to marry a man who is old enough to be her great grandfather?

it’s personal question then !!
you can ask the father himself , why asking us ?

the only thing i can do with this discussion is to show you that forced marriage is opposing the islamic teaching , and to show you that his practice allready stopped a long time ago ( in the time of mohammed (pbuh))

Why does Saudi Arabia allow this? They should have some sort of regulation of this abhorrent practice.

From what posters here share SA seems to me to be a very corrupt place.

Yes they should have regulation but Law makers make their laws.

Here in Australia we did not want to invade Iraq but our then Prime minister led us.

Praise be to YHWH our truth is not of this world.
