The highest religious authority in the center of Islam, Saudi Arabia, says Pope Benedict’s comments are “lies,” and they prove that reconciliation between religions is impossible.Saudi Arabia’s highest religious authority, Grand Mufti Abdul-Aziz al-Sheik, said in remarks published Saturday that the pope’s comments on Islam were “all lies.”

“These are all lies. The prophet (Muhammad), peace be upon him, came as a mercy to the world,” the daily al-Riyadh newspaper quoted al-Sheik as saying.

He said the pontiff’s remarks showed reconciliation between religions was impossible.

“Everybody should know by now that all claims about religions’ reconciliation have just been proven to be lies in reality,” al-Sheik said. “How can they think of reconciliation while insulting Islam and the prophet?”

How do you pronouce “submit”?

The hair on the back of my neck started to rise when I read this. The Pope is definitely in danger from these folks. I wouldnt put it past any of these folks to try something outlandish to harm him.

Somali Cleric Calls for Pope’s Death

A prominent Somali cleric has called for Pope Benedict to be hunted down and killed by the nearest Muslim. (Hat tip: Gateway Pundit.)

Like Salman Rushdie.
A HARDLINE cleric linked to Somalia’s powerful Islamist movement has called for Muslims to “hunt down” and kill Pope Benedict XVI for his controversial comments about Islam.
Sheikh Abubukar Hassan Malin urged Muslims to find the pontiff and punish him for insulting the Prophet Mohammed and Allah in a speech that he said was as offensive as author Salman Rushdie’s novel The Satanic Verses.
“We urge you Muslims wherever you are to hunt down the Pope for his barbaric statements as you have pursued Salman Rushdie, the enemy of Allah who offended our religion,” he said in Friday evening prayers.

This is REALLY getting out of hand. Those socalled Muslim leaders better get out there and put some water on this fire that their followers have started. If not, it could get real testy.

the swiss guard won’t let a hair on his head be touched. a crazy middle-easterner is no match for swiss commandos.

hate and rage will never win wars. cold calculated precision wins wars. which is why i do not fear islamic militants in the least. they bleed just like anyone, and when they fight with rage, they’ll lose everytime.

unfortunately, they’ve been testy for centuries. they aren’t doing anything now they haven’t done in the past. they are consistent, to say the least.

But they chose the side of the devil it seems. in that they are unable to tell the difference between right and wrong… good and evil. Nothing but violence… from the RADICAL Islamists.

Thing is… the non violent Muslims are once again… too silent. 😦
Indeed. Well spotted. They are God’s children too.

We’ll the quote that Pope Benedict repeated can be broken down in to two parts. One calls Mohamed’s actions evil. This is a judgement call and can be seen as a lie or the truth. The second says that the prophet expanded Islam with violence. This part is unquestionably true. Mohamed was the general of an army. An honest look at history would easily conclude that under no circumstances was the quote “all lies.” Does the Mufti deny that Mohamed was the general of an army?

I hold no stock with violence, from anyone, as I’m sure you know. I find the actions of Radical Islamists abhorrent. Still, they are still God’s children, even if they’ve gone wrong.

Are they? I have no idea. I haven’t spoken to any Muslims today. I’ve seen a few on the news doing the predictable things (such as burning things) that get people on the news, but I haven’t seen any non-violent Muslims saying anything. Is that their fault, or that of the media?

We must recognize evil for what it is and where it is. Being one of God’s children does not excuse one from accountability when they have chosen the ways of the devil.

I believe the big Mufti told more truth than he knew or intended. Certainly, all claims about religions’ reconciliation made by Wahabists like him are, indeed, lies. This from a man who won’t allow anyone to practice any religion but his in Saudi Arabia. Does he think anyone with any sense in the West, where you’re actually allowed to think, is going to buy anything he says?
