Is there a reason to save the Cross? You really don’t tell us if there is or not.
Petition to Keep the Cross at the 9-11 Museum and Memorial!

For some there is a reason, for others there is not, some may contemplate it. When my mother took her life I was eight years old. I have come to understand the meaning of the Cross well. It takes a certain kind of study. The school of suffering. Most here understand this. I was not expecting this awesome question. God bless you!
Code:
It gave comfort to many suffering through 911 Christians and non Christians alike. It became a part of the whole ordeal. Those who were personally and indirectly effected by it have a rite to someday go and see it again or for the first time. The cross is just a cross without Jesus on it. It has no meaning other than just a murder weapon without Him. When Christians see the empty cross they see Jesus. They see hope for the present time, hope for the future. They see suffering as temporary, pain as temporary, it gets them to the next hill, it gives them a sense of love, peace through a certain kind of surrender.

“Through the Cross, Jesus says you can love it all, even the enemy. There is no scapegoating. Everything, everyone belongs. There is only the broken and suffering Body of Christ eternally crucified, eternally resurrected: the human eternally crucified”

I had to do a search to see what was going on with this. From what I read the requested resolutions were to either remove the cross or to keep the cross and allow icons of other faiths to be displayed along side it (including some symbol some or non-theists such as an atom). If they went with the second option does that pose a problem?

The Cross was found in the wreckage upright. It was a part of the 911 story. I am coming from love…, it ll depends on the motives. Does it fit in with what took place on 911? Or would it be there to try to prove some kind of point? That would not be right. The cross would be there because it was found there. It gave hope to so many people. This should not be made into a politically correct argument.

As to placing an atom next to the cross (Did not know this was the non theists icon)
Since the cross is made up of atoms as is all of ground zero I would say the non-theists are already well represented there. I think we would have a huge problem if we tried to remove the non-theists icons. Whats one small cross? Don’t get greedy here.
