It looks real. The author of the book is simply saying (with research) that driving a Land Cruiser is more ecological responsible than having a pet dog. The title of the boof is intended to shock. In my opinion, it reveals the hypocracy of many. As for the claim (mentioned in the comments of the link) that human children are still more ecological damaging, this claim can be easily shown as ludicrous. Human children tend to grow up to be tax paying adults who help fund older humans…German Shepherds don’t! 😛

The problem, I see, is comparisons between life and an object.

They don’t figure-in:
The object SUV ] keeps taking.
The pet - gives back.
No value is placed on that interaction.
Thus the pet is only seen as an object and valued as such. Much the same way as the human child was.

I’ve recently heard the same on the talk radio station in my area. This is a new environmentalist idea that we should not own pets because they pollute more than suv’s. I think we need to go back to hard manual labor, some people have way too much time on their hands. the wacos are also saying that humans are destroying the planet because we breathe!! We breathe, cows fart and the world is going to explode. The sad thing is the environmentalists seriously believe this. Maybe if they would believe in God or at least have more faith in Him they wouldn’t be so worried about it. We can kill off the cows and our dogs and kitties, but the world isn’t going to change. 100 years from now the world will be the same, just without our animals. The environmentalists seem to forget that everything has a purpose on earth. From the earthworm to an eagle, they have a purpose and without them, the balance of nature is thrown off. I believe in conservation, keeping the water and air clean, I recycle. But, I refuse to worship the enviornment like some would like me to.
