And they were not allowed to sue. The Vatican is a sovereign state, it cannot be sued by anyone/anything, except for Italy or the Vatican itself.

I was referring to the fact that you said it would be impossible…it was actually very close!
But I can see what will likely happen down the line because it is a natural progression from the current aggressive trend of the GLB …whatever… community not to be ‘satisfied’ with anything ,but to shove their agenda down everyone’s throats. For example they were not satisfied with laws that afforded them partner visitation rights in hospital etc by the legal partner laws or whatever it was called…no they what to have their unions legitimized and called ‘marriage’ .I just watched a CNN report that very openly showed that the GLB…whatever next …agenda is, through Hollywood ,to “normalize in the people’s mind that which was not considered normal” by the use of popular shows like Glee and ‘The New Normal’ TV show about 2 gays wanting a child through a surrogate woman. So yes I can see the GLB …whatever community bringing to court ,cases that will cause legislation to be made that no institution can refuse to marry whomever ,in this country .The argument will be made that marriage is a civil state not a religious one and so not protected under freedom of religion…as if that will matter in this country anymore the way things are going. Then the Bishops and the faithful will have to do what they are doing over the Health Care Mandate , draw the line in the sand. If you don’t think it is possible…I suggest you do some research at what is going on in the military since the Don’t Ask Don’t tell rule was lifted. Military Chaplains are technically under ‘government’ jurisdiction and there was talk that they would be forced to marry the newly openly gay soldiers. I don’t know where that issue went for now but it was bad enough that it was even suggested .

Hahah LGBT: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender. That acronym confused me at first, too.

Just curious, how did you feel about the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell? (I supported it, I don’t think people should be bullied into silence, regardless of the matter)

The ramifications of the repeal of the DADT are yet to be seen but as I think I have already said the scary part came when it looked like they were now going to try to force Catholic military chaplains to marry 2 male soldiers. I am not 100% where this currently stands but I assumed they chose not to go there or we would not have any Catholic military chaplains left because they would have been forced to draw the line in the sand. Frankly IMHO we need Catholic military chaplains far more than we need to know someone’s sexual orientation.

I think that what works for the rest of society doe not necessarily work for the military due to the nature of the military job so I can not agree with you as far as “regardless of the situation”. The most important thing in the military for a force to be an effective deterrent is for it to be strong. For a force to be strong it can not only be well armed , it has to also be well disciplined mentally and physically as a co cohesive team anything that breaks down that cohesion weakens the force. My vote is still out on the repeal of the DADT to be honest, I thought DADT was a very good working policy but then again I have not had to live a secret life so I really can not comment yet. Other than to say that non- fraternization rules are in place because the Army and not be a HS play ground so the fact that soldiers can now be openly ‘out’ would actually seem to me to be a useful tool for commanders to make sure that people who would potentially break the fraternization rule would not be allowed to serve in the same unit, just like a husband and wife.
 
Interestingly there must have been alot of cometary to the radio station on the Candle maker comment because I just heard the radio commentator address the issue. He read a statement that EWTN helped him draft. Did anyone else here it yesterday and can anyone link it?
