I am the man I am today because of two reasons.
The first reason is because of God and His manifest blessings and mercy He has poured on me all the days of my life in spite of my sinful nature and continual failure to keep my reconciliatory promise to avoid the near occasion of sin.
The second is because my wife prayed, no, begged and pleaded with God to keep me safe and to change my life.
If I want to model my life after a saint I have to look no further than our kitchen as she cooks supper or roll over and gaze at her dozing on the pillow next to me in the morning when I awaken.
I love her so much that tears are welling up as I write this.
My life has always been a life of extremes, but with the prayers from my wife on my behalf, the guidance of our parish priest, the Grace of God, and Jesus’ Divine Mercy and promise of salvation through His Sacred Heart, life is good, and the future is even better.
We have been married 34 years.
