Saying the Hail Mary at Mass...isn't that not allowed?

I was flipping the channels on tv this morning and I happened to come across a Mass on EWTN, and just after the Intercessory prayer, they said a Hail Mary…it took me a few minutes (It was pretty early in the morning) and I slowly realized…isn’t that not allowed during a Mass?

I could always be wrong, but it was concerning.
 
At the end of the General Intercessions, the priest is supposed to say a closing prayer. There is no obligatory text for the General Intercessions nor for the closing prayer. Some priests choose to close with the Hail Mary, which is a way to ask Mary to join in praying for the needs just expressed. I see nothing wrong with this.
 
It’s also a tradition at St. Lucy’s-Fr. Mark does the closing prayer, then finishes with “Hear us through Christ our Lord and through the intercession of Mary as we pray…”

Some of the more traditional ones simply LOVE it!
 
The pastor of my parish leads the congregation to say a Hail Mary with the closing prayer and I like it.

It became a tradition in many celebrations of the Mass.

It’s neither prescribed nor proscribed. Whether it should be added to the Mass is a pastoral decision (personally I don’t think it’s appropriate but that’s only my opinion).
 
Every parish I’ve ever been to has closed the Prayers of the Faithful with a Hail Mary. 🤷

Wow, what a diverse Church we have. None of the parishes I’ve been at have ever done this. Interesting!
