Scandal and piracy

I dont wish for this thread to become a debate as to whether or not piracy is sinful , because I already consider it immoral.
My question is in regards to setting scandal in regards to that matter. I remember a stage where I condoned it to a couple of friends and asked they suggest which programs I can install for the purpose of downloading illegal music. I now feel bad and would like to know if I’m guilty for their ongoing downloads (even though they were already downloading illegal music). Does the fact that I set scandal in this make me obligated for some form of restitution.

I’d add that I also dont contact those friends anymore.

Well all I can say friend if your conscious is bothering you then perhaps its a good indicator that such activities of downloading music, movies, etc off torrent sites is illegal.
It means the originating author of the music or movies could have received monetary royalties from someone buying a legal copy of the authors material and didn’t. In short its an act of stealing.

Oh just to let you know that I did this years ago and felt the same guilt so your not alone.

Funny, just earlier tonight I deleted all the music in my iTunes library that I felt I didn’t legally have a right to keep It was a conscience issue for me too.

My collection went from about 3,400 items to 1,200.

I hear a fair number of people rationalize that downloading illegal music and movies for private use they have no real right too without having officially paid for it, is not nearly as bad as someone who does the same but alternatively illegally markets such for a profit.

Two wrongs never make a right. For every Torrent Site lawyers fight to close down another new one pops up. Many might say scurry this thought but I see a day in the future considering all the illegal activities going on over the Internet that Feds will one day control all activity on the Internet.

This would be quickly assumed as complete nonsense by many but I certainly don’t ignore the strong future possibility. Big Brother Is Watching.
