Hey, the sin of scandal confuses me. From what I understand, it is setting a bad example or allowing other to think that you are behaving in a sinful manner.

the reason I ask is because, this weekend I will be helping my girlfriend move stuff out of a hotel room into a car where she will be going home. So is the mere sight of me walking into a hotel with a girl my age scandalous because people will think bad things about that naturally? Even though I’ll be carrying luggage to the car and not doing anything sinful? still people might assume I am. I’d appreciate any advice.

That’s absolutely not a sin on your part at all.

For more info on scandal, I’d take a look here: newadvent.org/cathen/13506d.htm

Dear Brother,
Scandal is when you actually, blatantly sin for all to see. Helping a young lady move is hardly a sin and if anyone wants to suspect there is sin somewhere behind closed doors, that is entirely their problem for which they are accountable to God and God alone.
Don’t hurt your back carrying the boxes.
Peace and blessings,
McDonough
