When the priest imposed the Scapular on me last year, I am sure he did not command me to pray the Rosary daily, or other devotion. So, if I don’t pray the devotion, will I sin mortally?

I presume you mean the brown scapular. (?) That one has no rosary requirement anyway. You are encouraged to follow Carmelite spirituality and pray at least some portion of the Liturgy of the Hours. See link above.

Praying the Rosary daily will invite more graces to your devotion. After all, Sister Lucy had given witness that the Rosary and brown scapular are inseparable.

One of the answers links to the Scapular Catechesis, and that does not appear to specifically recommend the rosary.

Interestingly, it does recommend reciting the Liturgy of the Hours; the rosary is a private (and beloved and very widespread) private devotion. The LOTH is one of the two offical liturgies of the Church - the other being the Mass, and the LOTH is recommended, not required. so is reading Scripture.

At the end of the day (or this thread 😀) you have to decide why you are wearing the scapular; presumably it is to identify with and follow, to the extent you are able, the Carmelite spirituality. How you do that is up to you, with reference to the Catechesis and any other information you may garner from the Carmelites and others who wear the scapular.

I hope you aren’t looking at this in a superstitious way, as in, “If I don’t do this devotion bad things will happen to me.” That would be treating the scapular as the equivalent of one of those chain letters we get from ‘friends’ telling us that “Mary sent this letter on and won a car the following week! Jane broke the chain and a week later also broke her hip”. . .etc.

I wasn’t clear.
When I wrote bad things, I meant “mortal sin”. I will edit the topic.

Why dont you just talk to the priest who “imposed” the scapular on you? Why such a choice of word? Did you not request the enrollment? Or was it added to a Sacrament, such as Confirmation?
