Salve omnes!

I have ben reading some of the threads on here and realized that there are a few different Scapular colors? When I got mine before my First Communion, all the boys got a brown one and the girls got a white one. But I saw someone mentioned a Green Scapular. Do these different colors mean something, or are they just the way that Scapular was made?

thanks in advance,
Schatzl

Good Afternoon,

The following link describes the history of this great sacramental as well as the different types, sizes and colors of the Scapulars.

May the Lord continue to bless you and keep you all the days of your life!

They come in different colors. Most of them have different devotions attached to them. They are not all devotions to Our lady of Mount Carmel as is the Brown Scapular, which is attached to the Carmelite Order… For instance some of the Black ones, not all of them, which are not easy to find by the way :(, are devotions to the Sorrowful Mother and are attached to the Servite Order.

The colors that I am aware of are Brown, White, Brown and White, Red, Green, Blue and Black, and combinations of the above. There are probably others as well.
