Hello and Happy Easter!
So, my cousin is around 18 (he’s a year older than me) and is receiving Confirmation this year and he asked me to be his sponsor, but I can’t be there seeing as he lives in London. But there is a problem. He doesn’t believe in God, and he told me this in confidence that I wouldn’t tell anyone (we come from a very religious family) as he doesn’t want any trouble. He is certain that there is a Higher Power, but he isn’t sure if God is that Higher Power, or if Catholicism is the true religion. He is willing to learn about the faith, and agrees with most if not all of the Church’s teachings. I’m hoping that the Gifts from the Spirit he receives during Confirmation will kind of nudge him in the right direction, towards the Church. I was thinking about getting him a green scapular and asking him to at least try it. Do you think this would be appropriate? Or should I get him something else? I just don’t know what to do here…
