Some of you know I’m coming into the church, so I’m net yet a confirmed Catholic.

I am confused and do not understand the use of Scapulars. Could someone please explain what their purpose is and how they are worn, etc.

Thank you for the site, it still doesn’t seem to tell how to wear one and all that good jazz though.

Well, personally speaking I wear mine under my clothing. I don’t think anyone wears it over the clothing. Only taking it off for showering, swimming, etc.
It must be a wool scapular in order to comply with the promises of OLOMC. I mention this because sometimes you will find medals or little plastic versions of the scapular.

Okay, so I simply get one and wear it under my shirt or whatever and I will get any benefits Our Lady promised?

Could I go ahead and do that now, or would I need to wait until I am confirmed?

Try to be enrolled in the Brown Scapular by a priest. That way you don’t have to have your scapular blessed each time. In the meantime, I don’t see why you couldn’t wear one but have it blessed by a priest. Usually, there are enrollments on July 16th, the Feast day of our Lady of Mt. Carmel.
BTW, I went back to the website I gave you and it stated the following:
…People are enrolled in the Scapular only once by a priest or authorized person.
The Scapular can be replaced afterwards by a medal, which has on one side the image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and on the other, the image of Mary. …
I’m not sure about this. I thought I understood that it had to be a cloth/woolen scapular. Hope someone can answer this.
