Does anyone know, can any priest invest a person into the Brown Scapular, or does he have to be a Carmelite priest? Thanks! 🙂

I don’t know the answer to this, but I am glad you asked the question. I have wondered this, too.

Also, what about the four way medals that have one?

I was invested in the Brown Scapular by my parish (diocesan) priest when I made my First Communion. It was common practice back then (1960) anyway! God Bless:)

Hello!

Footstool has a group on the Brown Scapular and he should have all the answers you need. Also about the medals too.

God Bless!!!

Nix89 is right - it used to be that all children were enrolled at their First Communion. So, since not all priests are Carmelites or Franciscans, and assuming that these enrollments were valid, then any priest can enroll.

Also, the Blue Army travels from church to church in my area praying the rosary one Sunday each month. Afterward, they ask the priest at whatever church they’re in to enroll participants in the brown scapular.

BTW, I love my brown scapular and love that I’m enrolled! My husband is going to be enrolled in two weeks when the Blue Army returns.
