What does some one do with Brown Scapulars, that are fadeded away.

faded away? you mean like scapulars that are not in good shape to wear anymore? you have to bury them

Faded scapulars can still be worn. If you want a new one, that’s acceptable too. The old one can be buried, burned, or saved. We usually wear out the strings long before the wool part is too ragged to wear. I’ve saved a few and repaired them to be “emergency” scapulars that we use when someone looes or damages theirs. I’ve used a few others as bookmarks in prayer books.

When you bury Scapulars - or other blessed objects - do you cover them in some plastic or a bag or just directly into soil? I think Scapulars referred to here are “blessed” ones? What do you do with religious images, pictures, etc. - blessed or otherwise?

Putting them in plastic defeats the purpose of them decomposing into the soil.

The point is to dispose of them reverently - the Church doesn’t really have a “law” about how to do it. So you can burn them, or bury, or cut into tiny pieces so it’s no longer the same object it used to be, etc.

I always try to fix ‘n’ sow together my mom’s red scapular. So, maintenance and replacing damaged things is key, in my opinion. I’ll do the same with my brown scapular, when the time comes.

But, if it were to ever be severely damaged, I’d consult a knowledgeable Carmelite about it…since I wear the brown scapular, because that order could have its own special tradition or something, on rightfully ridding of the brown scapular.
