I just got some numbers of some spiritual directors in my area and I confess to being a bit nervous/scared about calling them. What do I do? What do I say? Anyone else gone through this?

Do not be afraid.
Make the call, introduce yourself, tell them you are looking for spiritual direction and wonder if you may set up an initial appointment.
Your initial meeting is getting to know the potential SD and let him know you a little bit. You don’t have to make any commitment. You can get some assessment during the initial interview and decide who will be the right one that fits your personality.

Definitely don’t be afraid. A good spiritual director will understand nervousness and will be well used to putting people at their ease. If they weren’t understanding and caring people, I doubt they’d be in this kind of ministry!
