Scared to go for confession-INTROVERT

I’m quite new on CAF so may be other members can me help out. Can you post more or less the same question more than once? I know a lot of forums do not permit that. There is already a rather long thread in this sub-forum started by the same OP on more or less the same matter.

Even if what the OP of this thread has done is permitted by the forum’s rules I find the behaviour of this somewhat strange and a little questionable.

You are not supposed to. When it’s a new user asking an honest question and seeking help, I let it slide. If it was someone stirring up trouble, I would probably flag it.

Since the OP admitted to being young and is new to the forum, I wouldn’t give it much thought.
 
I know going to Confession might give you anxiety. I feel the same way, as well as I´m an introvert. I`ve been to the Sacrament numerous times for different reasons. For each time you go, you will become more used to it. As to how often you should go - it´s pretty much individual, but most people could use to go more often than what they usually do 😉

The best advise I have to offer is to try not to be too anxious about it until you have to. Try not to spend more time thinking about how awkward you imagine it to be, than you have to. It´s easier said than done, but if you could do that then you may get a good night of sleep in advance.

Almost everytime I go to Confession, I bring notes so that I won´t forget anything. Confession face-to-face might be a not so bad experience since you are actually able to see the priest. He is probably going to sit there calm while you confess your sins and wrongdoings. You are probably just confessing something ordinary, even though you might think you have committed not so common sins. He has probably heard more strange sins than those you are confessing anyway.

Remember that the priest is also a sinner who goes to Confession and probably experiences being nervous as well. He is not perfect, and he doesn´t expect you to be either. You are confessing to God through the priest, and God already knows your sins.

For further confessions, if you go regularly, I would recommend you to go spontaneously, so that you won´t spend so much time thinking about it and getting anxious.

Thanks a lot. My confession just got over and it was okay. Before confession our parish priest walked us through an examination of Conscience and then we proceeded to go for confession. I was sitting right behind and unfortunately I was sent first…which was something I wasn’t prepared for. The priest was really nice but I confessed quite a few thing but he touched on only one topic …the topic wasn’t even that pressing. I wished that he went a little more into detail. I confessed things like skipping mass, disobeying parents, not believing in god at times , swearing etc . He only touched upon the mass topic. I really wished he would have been a little more prescise. Otherwise my confession was good
 
Good to hear. Once every while it seems like the just choose one to comment on. I have experienced that happening as well. Sometimes the priest feels like telling us why something is wrong, maybe he just had an impression that you didn’t know my skipping Mass is wrong? At least I know my former parish priest did it to tell me about why doing something I confessed was wrong.
 
Yeah maybe…anyways I’m happy that my confession is over and now I can continue concentrating on my preparation for my confirmation

I just wondered but not reporting it. That’s not something I’d do.

To me the main issue is it’s rather rude as the OP got lots of answers for the previous thread then starts a new one as if all those answers didn’t matter.
 
I wanted a clarification that’s why I started a new thread and all the answers mattered to me. I’m not gonna start a new thread anytime soon. Sorry im new to this page and I’m still learning the rules
 
Being nervous before a confession is just human nature. Try to relax. Take a few deep breaths. Tell the priest to be patient with you because you are nervous. Ask him for help if you are struggling to find the words. I find that making a list of my sins helps, because I fear forgetting my sins.

Sometimes I ask a question and part of what I am asking is not answered. If I put the question on the thread, it may not be seen, esp. due to the way the forum tasked you directly to responses so you miss a few posts unless you make the effort to go back. Hence in that situation, I might start a new thread as it is difficult on a phone to reply to a lot of people.
 
OP. Your priest goes to Confession too and his priest buddies hear them.
