Watched pawn stars ( for those who don’t know its a program on the history channel uk its about pawning or selling things that may have value from history ) and they were looking at a signed pic of the plane and the people who dropped the bomb on Hiroshima am scared of things like this and now i cant get it out of my mind am so scared that someone might do that here like terrorist got hold of some bombs am scared all the times about and i know i shouldn’t watch the history channel if things like this upsets me but my husband was watching it while we where having dinner
my husband told me that its unlikely to happen but am still scared and my OCD is bad at the moment am scared of death because i think that am going to hell

I know that Jesus loves me and i hold on to that
i cant stop the thoughts i saw a therapist for a few weeks unsure if she was christian
she gave me things to help with my OCD but i think i need to see someone
am scared all the time apart from when my husband is hugging me my husband cant hug me all day
in bed i feel worse as the thoughts intensifies my husband dont come to bed until 3 am as he is playing games with friends from the us my husband is my full time carer because am too mentally ill to work as i cant go out and have money on my own without supervision
i posted this in the pray forum also …i hope that is ok

Praying to the Holy Spirit to give you guidance, direction, strength, fortitude & wisdom in your time of need.

There are stories of martyrs, so in catholicism we always have hope of heaven.

🙂

Prayers. I have OCD/scrupulosity also and know how bad it can get. Hang in there ok 🙂 I will pray for you!

Hi,
I have OCD/ scrupulosity also. A psychiatrist can prescribe medication that will help.
Cognitive therapy, as described in the book "Feeling good, the new Mood therapy is helpful too.

People who suffer from scrupulosity should have a regular confessor and spiritual director. It is very important to trust and obey what your confessor says.

I dont have anyone like that am too scared to talk to a priest as i was abused by one when i was in my teens
its so bad that i cant go to church because of flashbacks and sometimes i take panic attack if i go to church Easter is a very hard time for me
my husband says i don’t have to go to church if i feel too scared too my husband is an atheist he don’t believe in God when i got married( my mother said she wouldn’t come to the wedding other wise ) in the Catholic church 8 years ago i had flashbacks and nightmares for weeks after when my step dad died ( he killed himself ) and his funeral service was at a Catholic church i also had flashbacks
My family don’t know about the abuse only my husband knows about it
My family are un aware about my past i have told my mother about another person who abused me she said it was my fault

i cant afford to pay for a counselor as both me and my husband don’t work and am disabled because of my mental health my husband is my full time carer and i had a therapist but only had her for a short time as there was only a few sessions
my mental health has gotten worse after my step dad died i have been very suicidal and blame myself for his death as i should have realized he was unwell … i cant go out the house by myself as i am a danger to myself and other people one day my husband had to go back to the house for something i ran off and ended up at the train station ready to jump on the tracks but i manged to stop myself and i went to the mental hospital they called my husband and the police as my husband reported me as a vulnerable adult i was gone for 3 hours
unsure what i can do

:crying: cant get the thoughts to stop blasphemous thoughts
I have been praying over and over
my ex therapist told me to try distractions like playing with my cats
reading or listening to music
i have been doing that :sad_bye:

Hi, Emily.

Everything you mention seems pretty complicated to discuss over the internet; and really, it seems it would require personal, one-on-one help at the hands of someone who is qualified.

PLEASE don’t forget that counselors are available for those who can’t otherwise afford them. I know there is resistance to this from your emotions, but consulting with a priest would be wonderful. Or, at the very least, of calling your diocese and asking them for help. I’m sure they could assist you with finding counselors who would be accessible to you despite your financial situation.

At the least, however, I can promise you my prayers and those of my family; and to remind you of how greatly you are loved by God.
