A funeral Mass for Jesuit Father Daniel Berrigan was held on Friday at the Church of St. Francis Xavier in New York City.

A Jesuit priest and herald of the Catholic social justice movement, Berrigan — along with his late brother, Philip, also a priest — became synonymous with anti-war activism in the Vietnam era. In the 1970s and 1980s, Berrigan also emerged as a prominent voice for a Catholic “consistent ethic of life,” opposing war and the death penalty as well as abortion.

Berrigan had been living at the Jesuit infirmary at Fordham University in the Bronx when he died on April 30. He was 94.

I enjoyed each of those articles; thanks both of you.

Rest in Peace, Father Berrigan.
