One Catholic church where I attended the Latin Mass had the Miraculous Medal Novena scheduled on a Wednesday after Mass. Can a novena be said before Mass?

If a parish is saying a novena together it is usually said after a Mass rather than before simply for convenience. However, novenas are devotional rather than liturgical prayers and can be said at any time.
Many people will say a “9-hour” novena - saying the prayer once an hour for nine hours. On the other end of timing, some novenas are said on Sundays only and so take nine weeks to complete - this is especially true when a group is saying the novena and can’t meet every day.
My daughter’s campus ministry says several novenas during the year. They start on a Sunday and then everyone says the prayers on their own during the week. Sometimes they have a set time to meet in the chapel and whoever can make it comes and others continue on their own. She’ll often call us when they start a novena and we say it “with” them from home.
There are so many beautiful novenas. We say them often and never miss the novena before Pentacost.
