Hello,

I have schizophrenia and am 18 years old. It started because of social isolation and sexual/physical/emotional abuse. I was in the hospital last year and now I live at home doing online schooling.

I am really in a lot of pain every moment of the day. The medicine has severe side effects. My thoughts are like a tornado and I can’t find rest. Hallucinations are rare but they happen. The confusion is the worst part… confusion about how this all happened and who i am.

I can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. As far as I know this is what the rest of my life is going to be like.

Anyways I could go on a lot longer about everything but I won’t. Please pray.

David

PS: I grew up in a protestant home but im getting interested in catholicism because of inspiration from people like Fulton Sheen and Thomas Merton. I’m not officially Catholic.

Listen, Lord, to our prayer.
Please hear our cries for help.
We call to You in times of trouble, because You answer our prayers.
We thank You in advance Lord for the help and guidance needed by our brother dbranch.
Amen

Hi David,

I am so very sorry for your struggles. 😦

Prayers said for you.

May God bless you during this stressful time for you.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

†

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

Prayer to Our Lady of Mental Peace

O Lady of Mental Peace,
Mother of Tranquility
and Mother of Hope,
look upon dbranch in this time
of weakness and unrest.

Teach her searching heart
to know that God’s Love
for her is unchanging and
unchangeable, and, that
true human love can only
begin and grow by touching
His Love.

Let your gentle Peace -
which this world cannot give
  • be always with her.
And, help her to bring this
    same Peace into the lives
    of others.
Our Lady of Mental Peace,
  • Pray for us!
    Amen.
Jesus, Help Me!

In every need let me come to You with humble trust,
saying:
Jesus, help me!
In all my doubts, perplexities, and temptations:
Jesus, help me!
In hours of loneliness, weariness and trials:
Jesus, help me!
In the failure of my plans and hopes, in disappointments,
troubles and sorrows:
Jesus, help me!
When others fail me, and Your Grace alone can assist me:
Jesus, help me!
When I throw myself on Your tender Love as Savior:
Jesus, help me!
When my heart is cast down by failure, at seeing no good
come from my efforts:
Jesus, help me!
When I feel impatient, and my cross irritates me:
Jesus, help me!
When I am ill, and my head and hands cannot work and
I am lonely:
Jesus, help me!

Always, always, in spite of weakness, falls and short-
comings of every kind:
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, help me and never forsake me!

Amen

Prayer for a Miracle

God of all creation, you who spoke a simple command and brought forth light from
the darkness, I ask you now to send forth your miracle-working power to heal dbranch. You cleansed the lepers, opened the eyes of the blind and by
speaking a simple command, you empowered the crippled to rise up and walk.
You sent forth your life-giving power to all those in need, including those you raised from
the dead. I ask you to send forth your healing power into dbranch’s body and give him the strength to fight his illness. I ask this through my Lord, Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

Praying. :gopray:

This prayer to saint Dymphna, printed below, succinctly identifies her as the well-known patron saint of those with mental or nervous disorders or mental illness.

Good Saint Dymphna, great wonder-worker in every affliction of mind and body, I humbly implore your powerful intercession with Jesus through Mary, the Health of the Sick, in my present need. (Mention it.) Saint Dymphna, martyr of purity, patroness of those who suffer with nervous and mental afflictions, beloved child of Jesus and Mary, pray to Them for me and obtain my request.

(Pray one Our Father, one Hail Mary and one Glory Be.)
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us, this day, our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us, not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, Amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed are thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners, now, and at the hour of our death. Amen .
Glory bet o the Father
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end, Amen.
Saint Dymphna, Virgin and Martyr, pray for us.

God loves you beyond all comprehension! He is here to carry you in your suffering. If you feel like hurting yourself or worse, please, please tell someone! Maybe they can adjust your medication. It’s hard to find the right one, dosage. As a teen, your levels are in flux. Praying it will get better for you, praying that you know you are a child of God. A beloved one! He wants you to live and find help and especially love!

Gracious and merciful Father, please come to his assistance.

Thank you for all your replies.

I don’t know what it means to turn to Jesus. Everything is just so dark and dry and nothing in the world seems to help. There’s no love or light in my heart. My suffering has made me evil it seems. All i know is that i was not evil as a kid at all, and i really enjoyed life.

The anxiety and fear is just overwhelming. Going outside to get the mail is even frightening. something is really, really abnormal about my state of mind. I know God did not intend for me to be this way. I wish everyday that i could be 11 or 12 again and just walk a different path and avoid the people and situations that helped cause this.

PS Any book recomendations?

David, my heart breaks for you. Please contact your dr and consider voluntarily going into the hospital. It is so important to find the right combination of medicines and meds can become less effective over time. I know you don’t want to hear that but people with any long-term illness require med changes over time. I wish I knew why some people suffered so much more than others. Continue praying and know that God loves you. You are in my prayers tonight.
