Please pray for me. I’ve been spending most of the evening researching different majors offered at schools around my hometown and trying to get some clue as to what I want to do with my life. I’ve been tossing about the idea of becoming a medical assistant, but I’m not sure if that is really what I want to do. Sure, some of the aspects of the job attract me, but not the job as a whole. So I decided to look around.
I’ve looked at Community Health, Nursing, Physical Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, Recreational Therapy, and Health Information Management. Some of them are too complex and some are too boring and I can’t really see myself doing any of them. Then I remembered how I read about Occupational Therapy in a book on healthcare careers and how it interested me. I looked it up on the Bureau of Labor Statistics to get an idea of the education I would need, and another website suggested starting small as either an Occupational Therapy Assistant or an Aide. For the assistant, I would need an Associates in Science degree and most places require that you are certified. Aide jobs are very menial tasks and you don’t get to do much, but I’m thinking about either being an aide or volunteering while in school. I discovered that my community college is offering an OTA program and I only need a few courses before I can apply to the program.
I really need prayers because I need to raise my GPA so I have a better chance. I’d really appreciate it!
