If we define God as “the Cause of All Causes”, then science and faith both flow from God, and since they have the same source, cannot be opposed.

Thoughts?

People who say they are opposed and must be kept separate are basically implying that science is what is “real” and God is a fantasy world in your head that has nothing to do with reality.

“The uncaused causer” or “the uncaused mover” or, biblically, “the I AM”.

No natural law contradicts causation caused by an uncaused causer, in fact it fulfills law since causation cannot cause itself nor can it uncause itself. So for causation to have been moved, an uncaused causer is not restrained by law, for also law is an effect of causality. Causation caused by an uncaused mover is also defended by “final causal” of the “first cause”. Science observes that everything is bound to the “four causes” (material cause, formal cause, efficient cause, final cause) other words everything that exists has purpose. So the argument of causality is an effect of a random act is faulty, due to the former point but also because it violates the third law of thermodynamics. TLOT implies organization and organization requires an organizer, design requires a designer.

So you right in the sense that there is no contractions 👍

We have a tendency to define God the way we want to believe Him to be. i.e. the way we were taught to believe that He is.

Different results are obtained if one actually seeks to understand His nature and purpose, which can best be done from objective observations of His works— that is, from a study of all aspects of the universe and an honest appraisal of human nature.

But honest appraisals of human nature don’t make us look good.

It is not logical that the Creator of the Universe be the “Cause of all Causes.” If free will is assumed, then it is impossible. If free will exists, those who exercise it are causes unto themselves.

Do a devil’s advocate - replace “science” with “racism” and take “faith” to mean faith in fairies - the logic might need a bit more work. 🙂
