Up all night blogging about Mr. Obama and the atrocity against blacks vs. the atrocity against the unborn, especially, the fact that “science,” the national religion (there is no separation of church and state, the state IS the church), makes a hatchet job of 90 percent of morality.

So I offer the following joke a Catholic friend told me a long, long time ago:

A Scientist is doing an experiment on a frog. He says “Jump, frog, jump.” The frog jumps.

The Scientist cuts off one of the frog’s legs. He says, “Jump, frog, jump.” The frog, struggling a little, manages to hop.

The Scientist cuts off a second leg. He says, “Jump, frog, jump.” The frog, struggling, budges forward.

The Scientist cuts off a third leg. He says “Jump, frog, jump.” The frog struggles.

The Scientist cust off the frog’s last leg and then says, “Jump, frog, jump.” The frog can’t move.

“Frogs with no legs,” the Scientist concludes, “are deaf.”

My father is a scientist.

I was for him when he was elected compared to Bush till to my surprise I see that he has got no values.
His only values are REELECTION.

Science is not the national religion, some people would like to have scientism as a national religion. We can see that on how a lot of environmental policies are established, there is a lot of scientism going around the government buildings but not a lot of science or religion.

Science is morally neutral because in its goals, contrary to some aspects of technology, it simply aims to understand correlations and causality among things. Science is not really even about truth because it is about building the simplest model to explain observable and measurable phenomena.

I think that your joke does not really make fun of scientists but it ridicules the way people do not understand the scientific process and often they are the same that fall in love scientism.

Science itself is no threat to Christian ethics; in many respects, it agrees. Teleology, the central feature of the Christian ethical system, is abundant in the sciences, for instance.

Perhaps you mean “scientism,” the potent but sterile intellectual bastard of science. In which case I agree.

The words that I bolded make me cringe because they are quite powerful. However, I do not think that scientism is the sterile and intellectual bastard of science, I believe that in reality it is the sterile and intellectual bastard of philosophy.
As a scientist and as a catechist I spent quite sometime explaining to the 9th graders in my Sunday class the definitions of religion, theology, philosophy, reason, logic, proof, science, scientism, technology, and reality.
I do that because intellectually dishonest people prey on the ignorance of the young ones to take them away from God, and you can find a lot of these intellectually dishonest people in the high schools and colleges all over the country.

Physics is hard! I dropped out of AP after the first few weeks. That’s what my Dad has his degree in.

I was half asleep when I posted this, sorry, I did not make myself clear and I don’t know much anyway I think I was trying to comment about how the State, combined with the use of “science,” using that term loosely in other words sometimes bad or erroneous science, to “prove” things like the unborn not being human at a given point, and Hollywood, and modern medicine (there are so many medical nightmares as well as miracles), form a CULTURE which amounts to being a national religion, red white and blue, following the Presidential race every four years, etc., and that for many people this suffices and the practice of religion is just something to be tolerated. As ? said on the CAF radio spot I listened to here, there is no general reverence or purity, especially sexually, that being so central as underlined in the New Testament.

As for my father, he tends to narrow life down to things that can be measured and proved according to a genuine scientific method, and simply refuses to address anything else, or, applies scientific principles where they are not warranted and comes up with answers much like the Scientist with the frog. He is professed atheist who is a tortured Catholic somewhere inside.

I fear that “separation of church and state” has come to mean the freedom NOT to practice religion instead of, as intended by the founding fathers, the freedom to practice it ardently according to one’s own tenets.
