“Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind” (Romans 12:2). Our bodily feelings and passions can be directed to either good or evil. We direct them to either good or evil by our spiritual faculties of the intellect and will. We direct them to good when we do so according to right reason in accord with our nature, God’s will and his commandments, which is for our own good and happiness. We direct them to evil and sin when we go against right reason and our nature, God’s will and his commandments, which is our own undoing, unhappiness, and not for the purpose God created us.
