“Now let man but think from what he is created! He is created from a drop emitted-Proceeding from between sthe backbone and the ribs,” (Qur’an 86:5-7).
Code:
At first reading of this Qur'anic verse, it is obvious that the error is that sperm comes form in a man's chest. After all, the chest is "between the backbone and the ribs"? The abdomen is below the backbone and ribs, and the male testicles are far below that.
This error is important because in Islam, if one thing in the Qur'an is false, then Islam is false. In Islam the Qur'an was supposedly transmitted directly to Muhammad from God through the angel Gabriel. Therefore, it cannot have even a single mistake. But, as you can see, it does.
The response that Muslims give to this problem is that the testicles, during the embryonic formation, descend from an area below the kidneys. Since the kidneys are in the abdominal area, they assert that the Qur'an miraculously and with scientific accuracy portrays what could not have been known except by God; namely, that in the embryonic development, the testicles were up in the chest area. But this is inaccurate. Let's take a closer look.
A drop
Code:
The verse says that it is the "drop" that is emitted from the chest area. It is not referencing the testicles that descend from the abdominal area (not the chest). In addition, by definition, a drop is a small quantity of liquid that is separated from a larger body of liquid. Gravity acts upon it and it drops; hence, the term "drop". Drops are not in the human body. They are outside of it. Human blood flowing through the veins is not in drops, neither is the seminal fluid, which is emitted from the prostate, in drops. It is the seminal fluid that carries the sperm from the testicles as it exists the body that then forms drops. Therefore, what the Qur'anic verse is talking about is not the testicles, but the seminal fluid and sperm mixture that has left the body during sexual intercourse. It is the drop that the Qur'an says is formed from "between the backbone and the ribs." This is an obvious and blatant error.
Where do testicles form?
Code:
Sometimes Muslims will say that sperm comes from the testicles and the testicles are formed in the chest area. They then maintain that the Qur'an is correct since the testicles were in the chest area. Is this accurate? Not at all.
“The testicle originally forms in the back of the abdominal cavity, similar to the position of the ovaries in girls. Near the end of pregnancy, the testis begins to descend to the scrotum.” (The Children’s Hospital of Pittsburg: www.hmc.psu.edu/childrens/healthinfo/c/cryptorchidism.htm)).
“the testicles begin inside the abdominal cavity.” (Penn State Children’s Hospital: www.hmc.psu.edu/childrens/healthinfo/c/cryptorchidism.htm

At seven months, “the testicles begin to move down from the abdomen into the scrotum.” (Allina Hospitals and Clinics: www.medformation.com/ac/crswa.nsf/file/crs-wha-obg_normal.fetal.growth)).

“Normal testicular development begins at conception and the testicles first appear in the abdomen at about the level of the kidneys,” (Long Island Jewish Medical Center, lij.edu/lijh/urology/personal/personal_3.html)).
Code:
Even if it can be surmised that the testicles were formed in embryonic development in the very lower part of the chest area, it still does not solve the problem where the Qur'an states that man is formed from the drop that is emitted from between the backbones and the ribs. The drop, the liquid, is not formed in embryonic development and does not begin such development until the testicles begin to mature. This occurs after the birth of the baby and after the testicles have descended out of the body.
Therefore, the Qur'an (also known as Quran and Koran) is incorrect in its statement that a person is formed from a drop that is emitted from between the backbone and the ribs.

Remember the Torah was printed loooooooooooooooooooooooong before the Quran was:

Isa 40:22 “It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.”

And see, it isn’t even vauge. It clearly says “the circle of the Earth”.

The quran is supposed to be the actual word of allah, the word of god!
How could allah mistake something he created for being flat?
…he didnt…

Has anyone here watched the old Batman series (the cheesey one)? Do you remember how Batman and Robin would solve the Riddlers riddles? That’s what the exegesis on these Quran quotes reminds of.

An example:

[Batman and Robin spy the Riddler’s latest missile-delivered clues.]
Batman: “What goes up white, and comes down yellow… and… white?”
Robin: An egg!
Batman: “How do you divide… seven-teen apples… among… sixteen… people?”
Robin: Make applesauce!
Batman: Apples into applesauce… a unification… into one smooth mixture. An egg… nature’s perfect container… the container of all our hopes for the future!
Robin: A unification and a container of hope? United World Organization!
Batman: Precisely, Robin!

Allah is Mohammed, Mohammed is Allah.

Mohammed is the sole composer, editor, director of Quran, Only prophet of Islam.

Sun Sets in Muddy Spring, Earth is spread out like Carpet - WOW ! So much of science in Quran.

When I was at school, the Quran was never one of the prescribed text books for science. How is that? How is it that none of the top scientists at NASA are muslims? None of them recomend or cite the Quran.

How is it that when someone alleges science in the Quran, that someone is invariably, a non-scientific muslim? Only they can spot the science, while the scientists can’t.

And why has all this alleged scientific knowledge led to nothing more scientific than the launching of rocks, of the correct size, at adultresses?

If we were to do the same thing in reverse, would Muslims give credibility to the Bible?

Statements Consistent With Meteorology
  • The Bible describes the circulation of the atmosphere.
    1. Ecclesiastes 1:6
The wind goes toward the south,
      And turns around to the north;
      The wind whirls about continually,
And comes again on its circuit.
    2. The Bible includes some principles of fluid dynamics.
      • Job 28:25
To establish a weight for the wind,
And apportion the waters by measure.
The fact that air has weight was proven scientifically only about 300 years ago. The relative weights of air and water are needed for the efficient functioning of the world’s hydrologic cycle, which in turn sustains life on the earth.[1] (If you are a physics enthusiast, please ignore our omission of the terms mass, gravity, and density from this comment.)
      Code:
       **Statements Consistent With Hydrology**
      • The bible includes reasonably complete descriptions of the hydrologic cycle.[3]
        • Psalm 135:7
          He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth;
          He makes lightning for the rain;
He brings the wind out of His treasuries.
          • Jeremiah 10:13
            When He utters His voice,
There is a multitude of waters in the heavens:
“And He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth.
He makes lightning for the rain,
He brings the wind out of His treasuries.”
In these verses you can see several phases of the hydrologic cycle—the worldwide processes of evaporation, translation aloft by atmospheric circulation, condensation with electrical discharges, and precipitation.[1]
            • Job 36:27-29
For He draws up drops of water,
Which distill as rain from the mist,
              Which the clouds drop down
              And pour abundantly on man.
Indeed, can anyone understand the spreading of clouds,
              The thunder from His canopy?
This simple verse has remarkable scientific insight. The drops of water which eventually pour down as rain first become vapor and then condense to tiny liquid water droplets in the clouds. These finally coalesce into drops large enough to overcome the updrafts that suspend them in the air.[1]
            • The Bible describes the recirculation of water.
              • Ecclesiastes 1:7
All the rivers run into the sea,
                Yet the sea is not full;
To the place from which the rivers come,
                There they return again.
                • Isaiah 55:10
For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven,
                  And do not return there,
                  But water the earth,
And make it bring forth and bud,
That it may give seed to the sower
                  And bread to the eater,
                • The Bible refers to the surprising amount of water that can be held as condensation in clouds.
                  • Job 26:8
He binds up the water in His thick clouds,
Yet the clouds are not broken under it.
                    • Job 37:11
Also with moisture He saturates the thick clouds; He scatters His bright clouds.
But…of course…the answer is no, the Bible is wrong and the Qur’an is right. Why? Because the Qur’an says so.

                    Nice proof.

                    Shalom,
                    RyanL

hi proud kafir, you are very knowledegable. it seems you much. but i suggest you to use a soft way to our moslem brothers and sisters. Did you use to be a moslem, because you named yourself as proud kafir. What’s your nationality?

Dear Ronald,
You give too much of credit to me. I am just an average person with average knowledge. Anyway, I take your point. Yes, I was a moslem 5 years before. I read Quran, Hadith, Mohammed’s biography written by early Islamic scholors. It didn’t make sense to me. As Arab pagans told to Mohammed “If God wanted a Messenger, He would have chose someone better than you”. That was my conclusion. I didn’t want to emulate Mohammed. I wanted to emulate great persons like Jesus, Buddha, Gandhi. So, I left Islam. I am from India.

Regards,

I bet you there is at least one muslim at NASA, and if there isn’t its because they are prejudice.

There was a muslim guy who was one of three scientists to win the Nobel Prize for the discovery of string theory.

And the qur’an isnt a textbook for science because itd be a pretty unclear and crappy one if it was. Lets not be sarcastic here, a textbook is for science, a holy book for religion, and if a holy book has science in it then that only makes the science validify the holiness of the holy book.

Take the case of this verse, in the Bible in Revelations 17:21 Large hailstones like huge weights came down from the sky on people, and they blasphemed God for the plague of hail because this plague was so severe.

THERE IS A PRAYER IN QUR’AN RECITED BEFORE AZAN MAGHRIB ON TELEVISION SAYING “GOD ALMIGHTY PLEASE GIVE MUHAMMAD AN HONORED PLACE AS YOU PROMISE” SO WHERE IS HE NOW? ASK THIS TO THEM.
I’M INDONESIAN LIVING IN BALI.

The moment muslims start trying to present the quran as a science textbook is the moment they loose all credibility.

there are no scientific truths in the quran, none other than what was already known at that time.

What is interesting is that most of the research on the science in the quran was done by two gentlemen, Maurice Bucalle and Keith Moore, both of whom were in the employ of the saudi royal family when they did their research.

What is amazing is that although both these ‘scientists’ were so amazed at the ‘ahem’ scientific truths they found in quran, they were obviously not convinced enough to embrace islam ! Talk about a mea culpa.
