Scientific revolution...perhaps a spiritual revolution?

maybe we are even approaching the start now. . .

I think the human mind has built such an ego that we believe we are impervious to dangers. There will come a time, where the ‘scientific advancements’ will become subject to some occurrence in nature. Maybe we will rediscover proper ways that promote community rather than isolated individuals.

I am not a ‘2012 conspirator’, but I just wanted to see if anyone had some thoughts on this issue. Hopefully you get what I am asking, but if not, just let me know

👍

By “some occurrence in nature” do you mean a natural disaster? That certainly makes many people work together in a struggle against the common enemy: the blind forces of nature. Or do you mean an effect on human nature like physical decadence? That would be more difficult to predict…

As we continue to learn more about the mind we’ll come to a new understanding of who we really are, and that will lead to a new spirituality. Though if that sounds too cup half-full, it will be nothing like what we now expect and may trash some ideas we hold dear. That’s progress for you.

Hi, lemondiesel,

I think I get your drift. What I see is a dehumanizing of people by the Technocracy. But, I think it’s people, not scientific advancement per se, that will bring about occurrences in nature. To be specific, there’s a scripture, where a prophet is telling Israel that their 70 year exile in Babylon gave the land in Judea a rest from their sins.

Like you, I say this has nothing to do with 2012, but with deteriorating morals and increase in sins. I believe that God’s grace not only is given to people, but also extends to land, plants, animals and water where the people abide. And, when our sins turn away God’s grace from us, it also deprives the things of nature God’s grace, in the area of the sinful people. And, when our sins so damage the plants, animals, land and water by depriving these of God’s grace, nature exhibits occurrences as a consequence.

Now, the Technocracy does tend to isolate people who depend on computers and computer groups for socializing online.
As well, I’ve noticed for fifty years, how sometimes automobiles bring out a dehumanizing tendency in people. Those who own and drive vehicles sometimes think they’re better than people who don’t own or who don’t drive, vehicles. So, technical advances have been alienating some people from the rest of the community for a long time, when it comes to vehicles.

Back to the OP. Personally, I think that experiments in recombinant genealogy may bring down God’s wrath, to cleanse nature from the perversity of some of the DNA experiments.
I have yet to discern if the deaths from commercial abortions are a curse of God as a result of the consequences from the 1960’s Sexual Revolution, or merely a result of our inhumanity to women.

Anyway, I do agree that what people do also effects nature.

God loves you,
Don

I would imagine spiritual advancement in light of science will spawn a concerted effort to fuse the two. In turn, there will be an appreciable indefinitness in systematic theologies as many institutions and individuals will exert their viewpoints as scientific findings get published and interpreted. In other words, a breadown of belief systems into more individualistic interpretation based on their rational understanding of their world. A vague spiritual philosophy will permeate general individual outlooks.

This may have the reactionary effect of strengthening religious orthodoxy as people struggle to determine what sort of spiritual inclinations they have in light of a better scientific understanding of reality. A sort of ‘branding’ of religious faith by established institutions.

Yes I meant natural disaster, thank you. :o Mankind seems too busy to care about other parts of the world. When one hits, we tune in, then forget. How the tides turn when one is actually effected by one. What did you mean by an effect on human nature like physical decadence?

who we really are.
Who are we? My mind is beyond infinite, and creates unrealistic realms constantly, yet it is tied with this body. Are with finite while being infinite? Or was our Mind created for an ultimate purpose, maybe even perhaps out of reproduction?

The only conclusion I can come to is that the New Testament is missing parts. I am tended to lean towards some of the different aspects of Jesus, where he preaches about a ‘kingdom of heaven’ here on Earth, as a way of social living. His afterlife teachings would then make completely more sense, as there is a constant battle of Good and Evil, living in a realistic “heaven” and “hell.” Those are the thoughts I kind of have about this OP.

So is there even one concrete human nature? Compassion verse Greed? What starts us down these paths? Nature verse Nurture?

I like that idea. I wouldn’t or couldn’t disagree. I think abortions are due to misunderstandings of true love, while also including the rape victoms. In other words, abortions happened from people who think they are in love, and people who want to be loved.

So true, when one realizes there is a connection, it makes much more sense. I don’t remember the name off hand, but a Vatican astronomer said, “Science tells us how we got here, while religion and God explains why and how the original how happened.” I couldn’t agree more, although my definition of God may differ.

I would like to see every atheists’ face on the verge of and into mankind’s extinction….every last one.

Maybe take an opposite tack and assume there’s nothing we can know absolutely, no purpose beyond what we make for ourselves. Then there’s no dogma or theories to defend, everything becomes real simple and the kingdom of God opens its doors: 🙂

“Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them. – Mark 10:14-16 NIV

Hi, lemondiesel,

Sorry I took so long to get to this post.

I can agree that a lot of Jesus’ teaching in the New Testament is social in nature. And, the one thing a lot of people leave out of His social teachings, is how Satan, God’s and humanity’s enemy, fits into the social teachings of Jesus Christ.

The one concrete human nature? A creature made in the image of its Creator; and therefore not an animal, all superficial similarities to animals notwithstanding our difference from them.

I always thought that abortions happened because the unborn baby wasn’t loved.
Whether because of incestual rape, rape, or selfishness of the unborn baby’s parent(s) not willing to share their life(s) with the fruit of their love.

God loves you,
Don

Bear with me here, but where I come to my struggle is around how the Bible is written. The first issue is that faith seems like a gamble, which we are allowed to choose. Second, and because of the first, it seems that the Bible almost depicts a time line of the consciousness of Mankind. Third, it then reads as a Mind battle between good and evil, something we all face in our individual daily Lives. The Creator manifested himself in the flesh to then guide us in a morally correct Way.

I found myself petting my dog and gazing into his eyes, wondering what really is the difference. We are created in the image of the Creator, but could our human nature be to describe that which is good? God noticed the beauty of his creation, is it only natural for us to do the same? edit: After rereading, is it not only natural for us to then be satisfied?

Thank you for the feedback

Hi, lemondiesel,

How observant you are, putting faith and choice in the same sentence. Personally, I have come to believe that freedom of choice and faith are two divine gifts of God to humankind.
I also believe that we can see the development of the human mind in the Holy Bible.
And, yes, I think that the Holy Bible faithfully depicts the battle of good vs evil that has come upon humanity with the defiance and rebellion of Lucifer; and that God has made Himself available to bring us through that defiance and rebellion to return to Him.
I have two dogs. These little creatures even so sometimes show the mark of our Creator. I keep them in trust, before God.
I think it is good to see beauty in all of God’s creation. When I take the dogs out to the back yard, for their daily doings, I enjoy the trees, squirrels, birds and other things of God’s as well as my neighbors’ back yards. And, enjoying God’s creation does satisfy me in a way that few other things do.
Thank you for the feedback
