Also another core belief is that you have to donate lots of $$$$ to be a member…
I used to live in Clearwater, FL…where they have their digs nowadays and they have been busy buying up downtown Clearwater.

You can give them several grand and they will let you hold some tin cans connected with string or something…and they will tell you whats wrong with you…and for a few thousand more they will fix you, or rather your “wallet”. The foregoing is my memory of a newspaper article printed about 25 years ago…

Oddly enough…for a religion (if you dare call it that…considering their long running battle with the IRS over their status… lisamcpherson.org/irs/jeff-irs.htm ) Anyhoooo, I also remember that there was an article in the local paper…the St. Pete Times (largest newspaper in Pinellas County) that cited statistics that members of Scientology were the most treated group of people in the county for STD’s…

At one time back in the early 80’s they had people patrolling with weapons on the rooftop of the old hotel they bought in downtown Clearwater…

I’m guessing that this thread must have died a year ago. Too bad. I wonder what happened to Thetan.

I have heard that their numbers are dwindling badly, but, I don’t know for sure. They have some very interesting technologies that actually help people. Of course, if the cost is so high that it puts the recipients of their help in the poor house, how much “help” can they be? Although, I understand that all religions have to have income coming in so they can keep their doors open.
