A little late for another comment, but I wanted to add a thumbs up for Scott Hahn. I’ve read a number of his books over the past few years, and seen most of his series work on EWTN more than once. Prideful? I find him to be quite humble. Obviously the man is a highly-regarded Biblical scholar, and his stature is recognized by fellow theologians. His students seem to love him. His classes are always full. If you watch The Journey Home program, every other week another guest mentions how Dr. Hahn’s writing was instrumental in bringing that person into the church as a convert or back as a revert. Dr. Hahn’s colleagues and friends, of which he seems to have many, are always speaking of what a fine person he is. He speaks very enthusiastically on television panels, but never over-talks the other panelists whose stature may not be as high. He’s generous in his praise of others, always smiling, keeping the program moving along in an interesting way. I believe I heard the Catholic Answers radio program you referred to, but the only rudeness I can recall was on the part of the caller. It seems to me that Dr. Hahn remained calm and respectful. Lastly, his web site, The Saint Paul Center, has free on-line programs that took years to produce on the Old Testament, and other subjects. Yes, a newbie like me was able to get enough learning from Dr. Hahn to earn an undergraduate degree for free. God bless you, Dr. Hahn.
