Has anybody read “Rome Sweet Home”? It is a book by Scott Hahn and his wife Kimberly. He is a convert like myself and I really admire his enthusiasm for the Faith. That book really opened my eyes (when I was a budding Catholic) and answered a lot of burning questions I had at the time. He really knows how to explain why we believe what we do. I recommend this book to anyone who is considering becoming a Catholic or anyone looking to rekindle their fervor for the Church. 👍

Yeah, He is a wonderful writer and teacher, Thank the Holy Spirit!

I read the book. It was great to look through someone elses eyes at our faith.

You might like this too…

salvationhistory.com/

youtube also has a couple of little videos of his talks.

you might also want to look up Tim Staples:thumbsup:

Now read “Hail, Holy Queen”.👍

I have read ALL of Scott Hahn’s books and completely love them (even the goofy-corny chapter titles:p )

The series he has on the “4th Cup” is a really wonderful explanation on the Eucharist and WHY its actually the Body Blood Soul and Divinity our of Lord.

The only problem with Dr. Hahn, is that he sometimes speaks way over my head. Maybe I should study more?

Kimberly Hahn is absolutely awesome in her own right:thumbsup: Get her cd on her conversion, it will leave you in tears and tugs at your heart strings. I have listened to it a dozen times now, and still get teary eyed.

To be honest though, I can only READ his stuff, I really don’t enjoy watching him say on EWTN. Tim Staples now:D I can watch over and over and over, but that is for another thread.

Bottom line for all converts/those seeking more insight into the Catholic faith/non-converting Protestants who just want a better understanding, read his books.👍

yeah…he sure is great, he helped me also to find my way back to the catholic church, of course with the help of catholic.com, karl keating and james akin.

Ditto. I owe a LOT to these men when I was trying to determine which direction I should be going.

A person can be a wonderful writer and teacher and not know the Truth that God reveals to us in His written word.

Need to be like a Berean and search the Scriptures.

Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11

.

Emerald,

have you read any of Dr. Scott Hahns books or listened to his audio tapes/cd’s? I highly recommend them.

He is a wonderful teacher of the faith and knows scripture better then I ever will. He never strays from the Gospel of Jesus Christ nor from HIS Church. Within the parameters set down by the church, he explains scripture in an interesting and thought provoking way, for me its like a Light Bulb going off everytime I read one of his books or listen to his tapes.

Although I do not consider myself noble like the Bereans, I like them, listen/read to Dr. Hahn and search the scriptures:thumbsup:

You conveniently forget that not all those Bereans actually accepted the gospel as presented by the apostles. Some of them, following their examination of scripture, rejected the teachings of the apostles.

And 2000 years later that hasn’t changed.

BTW, emerald, Scott Hahn was once at least as opposed to Catholicism as you are.

A person can also be a wonderful writer and teacher and does know God’s Truth. I would put Scott Hahn in that category.
