But don’t worry guys, even if they take over Pakistan by some freak chance of nature, they would never use nuclear weapons.

Really, guys, don’t worry, just be optimistic like Scott Hahn, that wonderful liturgical parable guy.

cuz I heard he thought that he thinks that 10,000 years from now, the world will still be apostate and the fundies will be preaching that serious horrors are coming down, and by then most people will have learned to ignore them, just like they do now.

Cuz, 10,000 years from now, the world will still be fornicating, using abc, killing babies, and the elderly, and there will still be po’d Muslims, but there won’t have been any consequences. We’ll all still live in the beautiful suburbs with our Plasma TV’s and five bedrooms with wonderful carpet, and we’ll still have pizza, doritos, and Aerosmith. Don’t worry, just relax.

After all, we are living in the “Millennium”, the wonderful Augustinian, Eucharistic reign of Jesus.

None of you have to believe in the fully approved private revelations, that in general foretell a minor chastisement that will approach the severity of the end of the world. No, don’t listen to Desmond Birch who studied the fully approved Private Revelations of the Church for 23 years. What does he know? After all, all we need to accept for now is Augustine’s wonderful Millennium.

Don’t worry guys, just relax, the Book or Revelation was already fulfilled mostly in the first century. Since Constantine, we have been in the “Millennium”, and probably will be, by Scott Hahn’s wonderful wisdom, for another 10,000 years.

I mean honestly, guys, the only consequences of sin and errors in doctrine is in the NEXT life, right? Surely, there are no consequences in THIS life are there? Of course not. That is why the European civs and their derivatives will still be able to prosper for many millennia to come, and they won’t have to give up their fornication, abc, abortion, euthanasia, and hedonistic materialism, let alone relativism.

Just keep reading Scottie’s wonderful “The Lamb’s Supper” and focus on the Mass, after all, God didn’t intend to tell us about HISTORY did he? Not even in terms of major spiritual ages? No, the Book of Revelation just tells us about the Mass.

I’m not looking for the sorts of things that the Left behind people look for, I am rather seeking to understand the greater SPIRITUAL ages of Salvation History, especially the Church age, and am not content to believe that all God wants us to know of the spiritual history of the Church is that it is a vague Millennium.

but whatever, I don’t think you would understand, so don’t worry about it.

well I do post my theories of structuring salvation history, but they are ignored, so I am trying to get your attention.

You really haven’t said anything much about Scott Hahn and your thread title is misleading to those who expect to read something about Scott Hahn and not your theories. If they are ignored it is probably cause no one can get through your pointless threads. I just want to know what your point is altogether. If you even know what your point is.

His point is, ignore the rest of the Gospel and simply dwell on Revelation. That’s been the point of every post Spauline has ever made (ok… maybe 50%!).

we must be little children in our hearts, trusting and following our Father, but at the same time, we must “put away childish things” and grow up, per St. Paul. Behold, little children never stop asking questions.

And this is one great crisis even amongst otherwise orthodox and learned Catholics in the West: Because the Fundamentalists ask mostly the wrong questions about the apocalypse, the common Catholic assumes that there are NO legitimate questions to ask.

Admittedly, sometimes the parent will tell the child, “It is not necessary for you to know this.” And admittedly, there ARE questions that are immature and fruitless to ask.

But again, the typical Catholic assumes that ANY question about the apocalypse other than preterism is immature and fruitless.
 
First of all, arrogance isn’t going to help spread your message. You’re over-simplfying Dr. Hahn’s book and essentially calling him (and anyone who dares disagree with you) a dodo - surely he admits that there are many layers of interpretation of scripture - one valid interpretation being a more literal prophecy regarding the end times.

Are their real punishments for sin in this life? Of course. Will the world be punished for sins with tragedy? It wouldn’t surprise me one bit - quite frankly we deserve it, but I’d like to think that God hears the cries of mercy from his faithful and “looks not on our sins but with kindness on our faithfulness”. Do we need to be honest and admit that we (and most especially me) are a bunch of terrible sinners and deserve punishment. Yes. Of course.

However, there’s a good amount of fear mongering going on here. So what if God in his infinte wisdom rains down fire from Heaven and afflicts all with plauges of unspeakable horror, killing millions? His will, which is infintely perfect, be done. We have to be ready to meet our Lord this very minute - whether that be through the end of the world, a plauge, an accident, etc… It doesn’t matter. We need to repent, pray, and in the words of St. Pio “Don’t worry”. So yes, thank you, I will have a beer and thank God for such a blessing.

My brother? Chances are that Jesus will Judge me long before He comes to Judge all the nations. You and I need to be prepared for this.

Like I said, “Keep your lamp oil fully stocked, my brother!” That way, if Jesus does come to Judge the nations tomorrow, you and I will be there with our lamps lit.

Actually, I feel the same. End of world is surely several centuries away, at the least. But that is only because the world will presumably be restored to grace this one final time before the irrevocable.

therefore, I am not saying the Second Coming is right around the corner.

I have tried to explain what my point is, but you don’t seem to grasp it. Nevermind, you probably wouldn’t understand. It is not your fault. Again, I speak to those who do not grasp what i am trying to say. I know alot of people like this. Many of whom are orthodox.

well, first of all, I really don’t believe that God is going to need to do very much at all. Mainly, the world will bring these horrors upon themselves. Nor am I interested in what will happen specifically.

The questions I ask are deeper, looking at the broader aspect of Salvation history, structuring the stages of God’s Plan spiritually. But alas, it seems knows what that means, and don’t care.

Don’t blame yourself. Some people desire to see, others are content with what they currently see, and do not wish to see in some other areas. Admittedly, for now, in Church history now, it is not necessary. Eventually it will be though, and you probably cannot foresee that the questions I ask would immensely improve our dialogue with separated brethren. But alas, you are content to brush aside their concerns UTTERLY with the “we are in the Millennium so forget about it.” I am NOT saying that question they have are entirely legitimate. I AM saying that typical Catholic response is BECOMING SLOWLY insufficient. But nevermind, carry on. 🙂
